When you open up a card, you get to go in the back. I didn't have enough time, but definitely will when I return.

We had the privilege of joining Michigan Senator Debbie Stabenow in the Members' Room to celebrate her re-election. Also, we were treated to a session with an archivist who showed us drafts of the Declaration of Independence by Thomas Jefferson and also his personal carefully...More

Apparently the library is considered essential because it remained open when most other Federal buildings and institutions were on furlough. We went to the Jefferson building. We went to the 2nd floor exhibition hall and went to the overlook for the gorgeous beaux arts reading...More

In the government shutdown we thought we had no chance of seeing this spectacular place. So glad to find it open Truly wonderful. It’s an exquisite building, housing of course the worlds finest collection of books, manuscripts and music

The Jefferson Building is breathtaking. The mosaic ceiling, the gold and aluminum foils are beautiful. The exhibit on baseball during the Christmas holidays was really interesting; especially watching people recall where they were when certain games were played. And, the incredible reverence we all had...More

The most stunning building in DC, seriously. Catch a concert, take a tour, stand and just gape. Get a reader ID, I love this place.

While we enjoyed the tour, it was a little underwhelming. While it had great architecture and some good displays, much of the building was off limits. When you think of a library, you think of books, only saw one room from a distance.

I would plan 2-3 hours so as not to rush. The tour guides seem very good. My cousin works there so she took us around herself. Much more than a library!!
