Unfortunately this monument will be closed until 2019 for repairs and renovations. However when it opens again make sure you look into the walking tour of the inside of the granite blocks so you can see the carvings and dedications made by each state. there is a great view from the small windows at the top of the structure and... Having only seen this Monument in pictures, it was one I just had to see. It was very hot in August and the elevator was not working regularly so I didn't get to go to the to but I did get to touch it and I got lots of pictures.

This monument stands out from just about everywhere. Unfortunately, you can not go in it until about 2019. The elevators are not working. But you can go to the outside of it to take pictures.

This is the first time we've visited in several years where my daughter got to see it without scaffolding. The inside is still closed to the public, I believe they'll open it back up in 2019. This is an iconic DC landmark, worth checking it out.

Visited in July 2016 and got there early in the morning to get tickets to enter the monument and see the views from above. It's worth the wait to get the tickets because you can see all along the Mall and The White House. would certainly recommend to try and get the tickets

The monument dominates the DC skyline and is perhaps the most photographed item in the city. Sadly it is closed to visitors for an indeterminate period whilst the lifts are fixed so you are restricted to external views.

It is closed until 2019 to upgrade elevators, so they say on tours. Definitely a landmark you can see everywhere to get your bearings. Very windy in top of hill in February.

This is the most visible landmark in Washington, DC. It can even be seen from Arlington National Cemetary across the Potomac River.

It's a great building and one of the most iconic symbols of DC. Unfortunately, it's still closed to the public (they didn't know for how long) until renovations are finished.
