A "Must-See" in the United States!
Jun 2021
One of the many "must-sees" in the United States! Absolutely beautiful! You can see the Washington Monument from so many spots in DC. It's at a great centralized location for checking out the city!

COVID white flags
Oct 2021
It looked like an ocean. The flags glimmered like silver scaled fish. This was an experience, NOT a display. To stand in the middle of 695,000 flags was overwhelming. I could not see the end of the planted white flags' edge. I could see people and couples crying. I could hear people sharing their stories of pain. This puts the pandemic in new perspective.
We found parking along Constitution Avenue.

I have been here for the Kite Festival and Cherry Blossom and protests and joyful gathering, but nothing ever prepared for the emotional impact of the COVID remembrance.

Not just an obelisk…
Jul 2021
At the first glance it may appear just as an anonymous obelisk, but it actually is much more… it’s one of the most important monuments in Washington DC, dedicated to the first US President!

Must see
Sep 2021 • Couples
At this time the grounds are covered in tiny white flags for those who have died of COVID. 637,000 and counting. Moving. Due to COVID the monument is not open to climb. If you do climb it in the future, it has a great view from the top. Photo op.

Visiting the inside of the Washington Monument….Priceless!!!!
Sep 2021 • Family
The National Park Service offers an amazing tour of the inside of the Washington Monuments however, the tour tickets must be reserved on the National Park Service Website.  Please note that tickets are released at 10:00am each day and they go fast.  You will have to pay a $1.00 convenience fee per ticket but that is a small price to pay for the fabulous views and the historical information that you will learn from this visit.  Please note that visits are timed so you must indicate your desired time to attend although it may not be available.  That is ok but just make sure that you are flexible on the day that you plan this tour.  Also, make sure to create an account with the National Park Service because you will need it to request tickets.  The park rangers are very kind and attentive to visitors.  However, please note that large bags and a list of other items that can be found on the National Park Service Website are not allowed for the safety and security of guests and for the monument.  You will have to pass through a security checkpoint as well. However, all of this is worthwhile for the fabulous views that you will see of the White House, Thomas Jefferson Memorial, U. S. Capitol, and the Lincoln Memorial.  Absolutely breathtaking views!!! We had an amazing visit and hope to one day again enter the monument that pays homage to George Washington the 1st President of the United States.  A truly priceless moment!!!

The most beautiful place in the world
Sep 2021
From the Grand Canyon to the Chicago skyline, I've seen plenty of breathtaking sites. None, however, were more beautiful than that of the Washington Monument--that towering pillar of white stone which Eliza Hamilton herself raised funds over two centuries ago.
Seeing this is the obvious highlight of any trip to Washington, D.C. The way the Lincoln memorial, reflection pool, Washington Memorial, and Capital dome are all lined up makes for one unbeatable photo opportunity once sunset rolls around (though the view is amazing at any time of day).
Even if you don't enjoy walking, this walk will be worth the effort. Don't miss out on the chance to take in America's most beautiful sight.
Oh, and it's all free.

Last time I visited it was covered with scaffolding. Nice to see it this time! Tons of food truck around, I’d recommend grabbing a bite and enjoying the view.

Timed entry tickets go fast, but it was worth the trouble
Aug 2021
It took two tries to get tickets, but the trade-off is a much less crowded experience. Beautiful views of the city and surrounding areas.

Lunch with a view!
Jul 2021
Had a wonderful lunch under the Washington Monument! They had about 40 food trucks on the street of all different types. It was a great way to have lunch with a wonderful view.
It was so much more impressive than seeing it on TV or a picture, and it a must-see for anyone going to DC.
