Our favorite museum in Washington! The building itself is beautiful as is the art which is nicely displayed and illuminated. Outstanding Italian Renaissance collection and this is from an art-nut who has been to the Louvre, the Uffizi, the Hermitage, the Prado, the Met, etc....More

America's history as told through paintings and sculptures etc. Large pieces, small pieces, pieces from private collections, national treasures, historic battle scenes. You name it, they got it. You could spend a whole day just in this one museum alone.

I prefer the traditional artists like Rembrandt and Vermeer whose incredible talent cannot be denied. Monet and Renoir are fun and interesting but whatever type of art you prefer, it is all at the National Gallery. No tickets, just come and go as you like...More

We only had a short time to visit, but the special exhibit of Cezanne portraits was fantastic. I can’t wait to go back. The gelato in the museum cafe was amazing - just perfect on a hot summer day.

A wonderful museum. I could have spent several hours there but just didn't have the time. Well organized and easy to sit and study something that caught your eye. I will return,

We took the kids for the first time to the Gallery this time. We had to choose what to visit, but I think the kids were able to appreciate the beauty of the art and its value to our quality of life.

21st January 2018. Not easy to see Vermeers in the US, so well worth a special trip to visit this exhibition!
