For being the national gallery I was expecting a little more I cannot tell a lie. I think we have been spoiled by visiting so many others in the past. But honestly the collection is quite stunning and it is a great way to spend...More

Amazed at the quality amount of art that is housed here. Plan on allowing yourself plenty of time, as it's impossible to do a quick walk through.

I came here since my daughter was taking a class at Georgetown Law, and I wanted to pass the time. If you love art, you definitely need to check this place out. You could spend hours going through each of the rooms. I think I...More

Quite simply, one of the best museums in Washington - a city filled with amazing museums. We wouldn't visit DC without seeing the National Gallery. The cafe has a great variety of foods.

This is easily one of the most beautiful museums I have every visited. It's also the perfect size, consumable over a few hours, or just bits and pieces. A must see when in DC.

I love that the two Smithsonian's are connected. It's easy to get turned around but there are employees at every other corner to help. I went twice during this trip and found a whole section I missed the first time.

I went on a Tuesday morning, and there were no lines at all! It's a great exhibit. No tickets or timed entry required. It's one of the great public institutions in Washington that taxpayers support. ENjoy!

Yes, the National Gallery of Art is a federally funded museum and would close in case on government shutdown.
