Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I loved seeing this place for the first time! Walking around at night not only felt safe, but exciting and fun.
The atmosphere is lively, and there is a plethora of good restaurants to enjoy. I particularly recommend Smoke and Barrel’s BBQ.
The metro station at Adams Morgan makes this neighborhood quite accessible. If you’re looking for a place to spent a fun evening on the town, I wholly recommend coming here.

Adams Morgan has a lot to offer - tons of restaurants and bars. But ladies, make sure you go in groups, preferably co-ed groups. The freaks come out at night and they come to Adams Morgan! If you're leaving the bar at 3am, expect to be harassed by drunken, disgusting men and homeless folks! I know it's like that anywhere you go, but it seemed esp. bad here. Don't be afraid to go - there are tons of cops; just be careful!

Came to Adams Morgan every night we were in DC. Loved the Blue Room, Adams Mill Bar & Grill, Anzu and Cities restaurants. Comet Deli was great for sandwiches, and we shopped at neat places like All About Jane, Shake Your Booty, Daisy, and KOBOS, which had great cotton shirts/ skirts/ outfits. Picked up lots of unusual gifts and souvenirs. Also tried Meze and Bossa Bistro. Highly recommend all this; lots of varriety and some different types of music wafting around Tryst. Had breakfast once at The Diner, and grabbed an early dinner at Duplex Diner (18th & U).

I’ve been along time resident of Adams Morgan - here are a few security reminders I’d like to share:
- if you park your car in the area, make sure the your windshield does not have a suction device (or even a ring where one was). It is a flag to encourage a break-in, looking for a gps device in the glove box.
- when sitting at a bar or outdoor cafe, never leave your cell phone on the table near the exit/sidewalk. Commonly, a thief will grab it and dart down the street before you can even turn around.
- if you’re walking alone, especially you ladies, keep within eyesight of some ‘regulars’ ...
- keep your purse close to your body; don’t have a hanging purse such that one cut of the strap can allow a thief to run off with it.
Just a few helpful reminders- it is a fun safe place if you just pay attention to a few things!!

PROS
* Eclectic and lively
* Vibrant night life- restaurants and fast food outlets, bars, clubs
* Creative and artistic
* Gentrifying urban living- brownstones and apartments
CONS
Had an “edgy” feel- not unsafe, but cautious
The only tourist attractions are restaurants and nightclubs
“I VISITED THIS PLACE”…
… when walking and exploring the Connecticut Avenue corridor- see my many and numerous photos
ADVICES
It seems that there is minimal tourist value so I don’t recommend this as a place that you need to visit.

I have been a homeowner in Adams Morgan for more than 12 years and a DC resident for 25 years. Adams Morgan is a vibrant, diverse and artistic neighborhood abuzz with colorful storefronts, interesting architecture, many public murals, friendly sidewalk cafes, restaurants with diverse cuisine, intimate coffee shops and some of Washington’s liveliest nightspots.
Weeknights are the best times to visit to avoid the crowds....or if you are a nightlife seeker, then visit on weekend evenings. There is not much to see or do during the day, aside from hang out at one of the local cafes or strolling the neighborhood to see the architecture and murals.
My Favorites in Adams Morgan:
Grocery Stores: Harris Teeter (1631 Kalorama Rd., NW) and Safeway (1747 Columbia Rd., NW).
Desserts: The Cakeroom (2006 18th St., NW) for their Oreo Cheesecake, cupcakes and big cookies. Also Tryst for their many cakes, pies and cookies.
Taco Tuesday Specials: Johnny Pistolas (2333 18th St., NW) and Smoke & Barrel (2471 18th St., NW) have specials every Tuesday.
Outdoor Seating: Get your pizza fix and happy hour specials on the rooftop of Mellow Mushroom (2436 18th St., NW). Bourbon (2321 18th St., NW) has a cute patio out back and is great for brunch. 18th & U Duplex Diner (2004 18th St., NW) has a smaller patio and gets a large crowd on Mondays for M night when all items beginning with the letter M are half price, such as meatloaf, mac and cheese, meatballs, merlot, etc. Also try the bar rooftop at Roofers Union (2446 18th St., NW) for great views.
Fine Dining: Mintwood at 1813 Columbia Rd., NW and neighbor Johnny's Half Shell. Also try Lapis and Tail Up Goat.
Post Office: 2300 18th St., NW
Men's Haircut: I go to Bang Salon at 1612 U St., NW. I've also heard that Wise Owl Club is good at 2010 18th St., NW.
Dry Cleaners: Cupid Cleaners, 1730 Kalorama Rd., NW
Gym: Vida (1612 U St., NW) is the best large gym in the neighborhood and has many fitness classes and a rooftop pool. MINT (1724 California St., NW) is a smaller, more personal gym. Smaller group glasses can be found at solidcore (1706 Columbia Rd., NW) and CrossFit Hierarchy (1681 Kalorama Rd., NW)
Best public transportation: I usually take any of the buses (S1, S2, S4, S9) that run up and down 16th St. -- to travel north to Columbia Heights and beyond or to go downtown as far as the White House and National Mall. Bus rates are about $2 each way. Three nearby Metro stops include Dupont, Calvert Woodley and U Street.

From the first time I went to Adams Morgan I was sure that was in my top 3 DC neighborhoods. Since I'm someone who loves food and party, I could not be better served. From the east African to soul food, from the rooftops to the live music venues, this was simply marvelous. If you like soul food and jazz, just head to the Madams Organ or Columbia Station and you will be well served. If it's not your thing then you have plenty of other options around. Just take a walk around the neighborhood and you will definitely find your spot. You can stop in the 18th street side and go for a walk of joy.
I definitely recommend it for the foodies and music lovers.

The restaurants include many different types of cuisine. The down side to the neighborhood is that it is good walk from any Metro stop.

Adams Morgan has been on and off again and now on again as the trendy neighborhood for progressives in Washington DC. All kinds of people live here and all kinds of parades go on. It also has the best ethnic restaurants in DC. There are more than a dozen Ethiopian ones, Arghan, Middle Eastern, Cuban, etc, etc, etc.

This is a fantastic neighborhood. Plenty of restaurants and a few independent shops. Madams Organ is a must!! A real DC institution. On almost any given night there is live music of some genre sparking a vibe that is unmatched on the entire strip. Hope you make it soon
