Paying a little extra was well worth it to take the Behind the Scenes Tour. We were able to access areas of the Cathedral that were incredible. We went to the balcony located directly under the rose window, enabling us to get an up-close view of it. Also, right outside, 300' up on the walkways, eye-to-eye with gargoyles and grotesques.... The Washington National Cathedral is a beautiful architectural marvel. It resembles the stunning Churches in Europe. It is a little out of the way, but well worth a visit.

Excellent guided tour by prearrangement for our small group. The volunteer guide was very knowledgeable and informative and guided us throughout the entire cathedral. The building is beautiful, the stained glass windows impressive, and it's definitely worth a visit.

If you want a cathedral fix, forget Florence, Milan, London, Paris.....come here instead. Although it’s not as expansive as St. Peter's, our country's cathedral is just as imposing. Great location showing off a towering structure with great architecture (think flying buttresses). Wonderful stained glass windows; some of the finest we've seen. Oh yes, you won’t get to the top of... More

Glad I got the fee part out of the way... The bonus is a guided tour that helps explain more then I knew before. Well worth the cost and still one of the more amazing churches in the United States. Learn why it was built, how long it took and the many people from George Washington on who helped make... More

Our tour guide was the sweetest older lady but it was hard to hear her and she would forget somethings from time to time. A magnificent place and so peaceful to. Highly recommend as just relaxing and taking it all... More
