If you have the time this is fun, we did on Saturday with street market, don't think I'd recommend trip if week day as not much variety indoors. We skipped the pancake queue as too long and can get breakfast anywhere and we really enjoyed the Philippino street food fresh, flavoursome and the couple who ran it where keen to... More

Great way to spend a Sunday afternoon. An open air market with food, art, crafts, clothing. Walkable from the Capital Hill area. Interesting sites along the way

I'd heard high praise for DC's Eastern Market, so during a recent trip to the city, I hopped in a cab and went to check it out. I'm so glad I did! I started with a short stack of blueberry buckwheat pancakes at The Market Lunch. Delicious! I sat at the long counter aside a group of tourists from Scotland.... More

This is a great little market and the perfect thing to do if you have time to kill! On a recent rip to DC I had a bunch of time to kill. I decided to check out this market after a local told me about it. I wish I was staying there with a place that had a stove because... More

If you have a few extra hours during your visit to Washington DC., a quick trip to the Eastern Market on 7th St. is a great place to walk through and sample some of the local produce and foods. The actual outdoor produce market is open Tuesdays from 1-6p.m. and the inside market itself is open Tues-Fri 7a.m-7p.m. Sat., 7a.m.-6p.m.... More

Inside the market is mostly specialty groceries: butcher, vegetables, cheeses, etc. and a floral boutique. Outside are vendor booths: jewelry, art, clothing, hats, etc. In the front are different food booths: Mexican, a few other ethnic food booths (I forget which kind) like South American, homemade doughnuts and lemonade.... Inside is Eastern Market Lunch- good crab cakes, fried green tomatoes... More

Mostly like a flea market with craft items and food market indoors. The metro takes you right to it at the Eastern Market stop. I found a great bagel shop one of the houses lining the street. It makes for a nice Sunday morning outing for coffee and something to eat with all the food places around.

I walked here from the American Indian museum, which took about half an hour. The Capitol Hill neighborhoods made for interesting scenery. The market seems to be a hotspot for locals, which was a nice change from downtown and the Mall. I hoped to have lunch at Market Lunch but on the weekends they serve breakfast till 1pm. Instead I... We come every 3-4 weeks, from the Maryland burbs. We get fruits and vegetables outside (start with Dunham's) and cheese (the best in DMV) and fresh pasta (delish) inside. Also, occassionally get fresh pickles outside. If hungry, get fresh pancakes inside.

We visited the Eastern Market on a Sunday in the capital Hill section of Washington, DC. The market is an easy walk from the metro station of the same name. We were first greeted by a large flea market of upscale unique products including folk art, clothing, and framed prints. Sights, smells and sounds are waiting for shoppers who enter... More
