The Eastern market is great to pick up fresh vegetables, fruits, cheeses, charcuterie, etc. There are many outdoor stalls selling arts & crafts, pictures, jewelry, etc. It can be interesting for visitors to the District who want to buy a painting or a photograph and the Eastern Market area, as well as Barracks Row across, have good restaurants. Besides that,... More

We made a special trip here on our way home from the city and found the prices of the produce high compared to our area back home and nothing of interest for my teen grandkids even on a Saturday. The parking situation is very bad and I would not bother visiting again.

First of all, Eastern Market is not a huge, sprawling city market like you might find in other cities. The historic market was one of three that were established in the late 19th Century around Washington to serve local neighborhoods and it's been at the same location for over 130 years. It is an architectural gem that we love. I... More

This is a cool, historic market. It's sort of random and eclectic, which a lot of people like. I've never had the blueberry pancakes, but if you want some, you have to get there super early! Bring a shopping bag and pick up some artwork and fun, unique souvenirs.

I've loved going to Eastern Market for years, and today's visit while in town for the weekend was no different. We used to go weekly when we lived in the area to buy produce, cheeses, and meats in addition to cards and gifts. Market Lunch is a must for a yummy breakfast (blue bucks or the brick) and the card... More

Stop by on a recent business and pleasure visit. If I lived in DC ..I'd be frequenting this place. Great veggies and fruits and the meat market and bakery inside looked to die for. Fun arts and crafts as well as yard sale finds. Great people working on the out door booths, from all over.

Definitely worth the stop. A nice mix of fresh produce, homemade art/jewelry, and artisan foods. Prices are reasonable for any market like this. Make sure to check out the indoor and outdoor parts. Bathrooms located inside with an ATM. Make sure not to get there too close to closing ~5-6pm as many vendors pack up pretty early. There are also... More

We have been here numerous times in the past, and have always enjoyed the market. The weather was perfect, so this made the experience must more enjoyable. Prices are high compared to what I am used to, but this is DC. A leisurely way to spend an hour.
