Great spot

Definitely a gem of the beaten path. Nice Michigan inspired vibe. My friends definitely enjoyed the Coney dogs and they have pretty good drink specials. Definitely a cool place for HH or to just grab a drink and chill. The rooftop when its nice out is everything.

Great for Chicago and Detroit Expats
Sep 2019 • Couples
Having recently moved to the area, we were looking for some Chicago specialties, such as Italian Beef or Chicago style hot dogs. We found this restaurant online but almost didn’t find it. The door was open with a staircase and at first we did not see the name or address. Once we figured it out, we went up to the rooftop bar that has plenty of TVs for watching sports. It also has a unique moveable roof. We ordered the Italian beef sandwiches but I made mine a combo with Italian sausage. We ordered our sandwiches “wet” and there was adequate au jus, however, it was diluted and not as flavorful as it could have been. I ordered sweet peppers and I was not disappointed-there were plenty of sweet red peppers on my sandwich. My husband had the hot peppers on his sandwich. My only complaint was that the Italian sausage was in a casing similar to a hot dog although the flavor was good. We will return for a Chicago dog. In addition to draft beer, beer is available in cans.

Came to watch a Tigers game (did that), have a Strohs (not as good as I remember), and have a Coney dog. The dog was okay, but left me wanting. Hole-in-the-wall whose best feature is Detroit sports.

For the locals
May 2016 • Friends
Was only in DC for a couple of nights and my friends and I decided to go here. Seemed ok at first, but it got so packed. Like everyone else said, this place is the size of a small apartment. Really small apartment. So when I say packed, I mean like about 25 people lol.

I only saw about 5 choices of beer, 2 or 3 different types of hotdogs and I think they have more than one selection of liquor (I only saw jameson).

I had the Old Style...ish (its a beer) and it was pretty good and really cheap ($3).

It seemed like this is a bar for just the locals as everyone seemed to know everyone else. Either way it was ok to have a drink or 2 just to start your night since its very small and has cheap drinks.

I would not come back though.

Heard of capitalism?

If you treat me like I'm stupid when I order my drink, then I write about it on Tripadvisor. And then I take my money and exchange goods for services somewhere else. What a concept. Don't you think?

Walked by a couple of times because there was no sign. The door has gold spray paint that reads "welcome to the thunderdome". Small, a converted one bedroom apartment. They have a couple beers on draft and a couple canned. They also have liquor which includes a discounted mystery shot. They also serve malort- which is awesome even if you're not drinking it just to see the reactions.

Great bar- especially for Chicagoans

It looks like you're at someone's apartment, there just happens to be a bar in the living room. You have to go to this bar if you're a native Chicagoan in D.C. They serve Chicago beers, including Goose Island and they even offer Chicago-style hot dogs! The walls are adorned with pictures of Harry Carey, former IL governors, etc. They even had the Blackhawks game playing in one of the rooms when we were there. The bar is also a Michigan/Detroit bar. Don't go here expecting anything upscale, but the prices are cheap and the atmosphere is fun.
