- SheRaeInAZMaricopa, Arizona96 contributionsStep Back In Time! A Must Go Place! This is one of my most favorite places in the Valley. I bring all my family and friends visitors here. You definitely feel like you stepped into the past. If you visit on the days that they have their reenactments it’s even more of a delight. If you have never been then you must! It’s great for a solo day, a family day or to show your visitors an old west feeling.Visited March 2023Travelled with familyWritten 9 October 2023
- CharleneVictoria, Canada90 contributionsFun for ~1 hour family visitWe stopped in to walk around the site with two young kids and appreciated that the walk around was free. The kids were entertained and it was interesting for us. The surrounding views are exceptional (Superstition Mountains). I can’t comment on the authenticity as I’m not well versed in ghost towns nor the history of the site.Visited November 2023Travelled with familyWritten 28 November 2023
- malinaowensEdgewood, Kentucky42 contributionsFun piece of history for all agesFun stop for a little piece of history that all ages can appreciate. We did the tours of the mine, bordello, and visited shops and saloons and it was a good time for all of us. Our favorite parts were the Ghost Tour by Fear Frontier and the horseback ride at OK Corral next door.Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 28 December 2023
- Robert HLynchburg, Virginia453 contributionsNice western townA nice Arizona western town re-creation!! A town mercantile, church saloon, and of all things a brothel!! Several things you have to pay for like mining, zip line, train ride around the town, but the gunfight performance is free. That is performed on the hour usually starting at hogh noon. It was gunshot loud but very entertaining. The gunfighters did hold out their hats for tips, but they earned our few bucks. Overall, you have to stop here even if it is touristy.Visited January 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 6 January 2024
- katrina_dituriTri-Cities, Washington123 contributionsGoldfield Ghost Town 2023We had a great time here. The old western town would be great for families looking for a 1/2 day trip. There is a restaurant and cafe for eating/relaxing. The service at the cafe was good! Our lattes and cookies delicious. The shoot out show was good and not to long. The guns are loud so little kids may be frightened. We did not ride the train or pan for gold.Visited January 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 8 January 2024
- Shannon S5 contributionsNice stopIt’s as you would expect - was busy but still received our food & ice cream with not much wait time. Seating is a premium in spots. The gunfight happens on Main Street and everyone gathers around - hard to see if you are late to the game. Typical little shops to buy stuff at. We did the train ride and the fellow doing the driving was well informed. Also went on the mine tour - it’s 20 minutes but learned lots from the young guide.Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 31 January 2024
- Mac K32 contributionsMandatory tip at the SaloonThe food was ok, beer was cold however the service was slow and served on disposables. There was live entertainment which was good. Joust a word of caution we were a group of 8 and there was a mandatory. 20% gratuity added to the bill with no warning from staff. So before you square up check your bill to sees ifa tip was added by staff before you pay and add any further tip!!Visited February 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 9 February 2024
- Bella P4 contributionsGreat attractionsGreat place to experience how was it being in mining era. The tour guides are great and very informative. The train tour is amazing with the view around. The tickets are not that pricy I think it’s worth it to try some of the attractions.Visited February 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 19 February 2024

We spent about 3 hours here & checked out all the shops & boutique's. I walk with a walker & was pleasantly surprised that there are ramps leading to each shop. We did not do the mine tour or the train ride but saw many people were doing both. We got our picture taken at "Time after Time Antique Photography" & the young ladies were extremely helpful. The day we visited was Valentine's Day so what better way than buying a Sterling Silver Turquoise ring at "The Blue Nugget" plus a beautiful handmade vase. I had a bit of an issue in the Saloon's bathroom where I had to rinse my shirt out in the sink, I want to thank the nice women (customer) who was more than helpful. We bought some delicious fudge at the "Mother Lode Mercantile", the Prickly Pear Fudge is a definite buy!!! I had the best tasting Frappuccino at the "Coffee Cantina & Bakery". All of the shops & stores are worth a visit!! We got here in the morning before everyone else started showing up so it was like being in a real Ghost Town!!Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 29 February 2024

This is apparently a very popular attraction as there were a lot more people than we expected to find. It is located at an old ghost town, but is more active than a ghost town would normally be. There are a lot of old buildings that now house museums, shops, and attractions, most requiring an entrance fee. You can walk the grounds and see a live gunfight for free. This was a nice stop on our trip between Phoenix and Tucson.
Be aware, there are public restrooms available, but they only handle one at a time, so one of the longest lines of the day will be to use the restroom 🤔

This was our first time to the Goldfield Ghost Town and we loved it! We booked a 4x4 jeep tour that left from the town, so we took some time before the tour to look around.
I won't spoil it for you, but the back story of the town is really interesting! There is a main street with several fun gift shops to wander through. There's an old Mercantile that has a lot of fun things you might remember from your childhood (I'm 47), it as a good old fashioned candy counter, homemade fudge, and lots of gift ideas. The decor inside is really fun to look at.
There are a couple other shops - one that sells just cactus (packed up for you to take home!), one that sells decor and jewelry, one that sells ironwork type decor, and another similar to the mercantile where you can find a little bit of everything. There is a fantastic old church that you can go inside, a jail you can peek into, an old brothel type building, an ice cream shop, and several attractions that you can pay extra for (train tour, mine tour, zipline).
The scenery in the area is incredible and you will find yourself nearly at the base of the Superstition Mountains. You can't beat the views in all directions!
Totally worth a day trip! We highly recommend Apache Trail Tours that is based out of an old building in the town. We took a 2-hour 4x4 tour and LOVED it!!!

We had a great time exploring for our first visit. However, if you are concerned about COVID safety...it’s a mask optional place. More importantly, the tour of the mine shaft puts you in very close proximity, including packing into an elevator while the guide continues to talk and share about how packed the minors were. Train ride has you seated side-by-side, which is at least in fresh air, or in a mostly enclosed caboose which is fine if just one family, however it can get warm and stuffy in there.
There’s a few fun things to do and I still recommend it for an outing. Just be aware if you are Covid concerned. (We did not do all of the tours so I don’t know about them. )
FYI, there is a combo ticket which can save you a little money, and the automobile club discount was at the counter of the store near the train but was not offered at the mine.
Also, bring some smaller bills to tip all of the tour guides and show. I believe I heard most are volunteers and I’m sure they greatly appreciate everything they are given.

We’re scratching our heads trying to figure out why this place gets so many rave reviews. The place is really small. There aren’t many buildings to explore and most of them are shops. The location is authentic but the buildings aren’t, they are recreations/rebuilds. You can’t even go into the church or the jail. We visited Tombstone, a real authentic town; way better!
Yes, there is no admission fee, so you can come in and walk around the grounds. (takes about 5 minutes to walk from front to back). But you have to pay if you want to do anything. They offer a small railroad ride, mine tour, reptile exhibit, mystery shack (fun house), bordello, and museum, all around 7-$12 for adults and 3-$8 for children over 5. They have a shooting gallery and gold panning, and booked activities like a zipline, riding stables, and an evening ghost town tour. Do a couple of these activities for a family of 4 and it adds up quickly. The shootouts are only performed on Saturday and Sunday, but they are free and were OK., but hard to hear depending on where you were. Lunch at Mammoth Saloon was very good. And you have some awesome views of the Superstition Mountains from here.
All in all, we felt this place is a big tourist trap, and an expensive one at that. It was a big disappointment. We saw many people walk through and head back out. We toured Goldfield’s on our own on the way to the Dolly Steamboat, which we do recommend and booked ourselves. We are glad we didn’t book a $150 or more Apache Trail Tour, and instead explored on our own. Be aware, the cost of any activities you do at Goldfield’s are not included in any tour package.

Smokey was fantastic- we learned allot and he was a great tour guide! It was really interesting to see and learn all about the desert and how to survive with nothing. The four-wheel-drive experience was also very engaging. We would recommend this to to anyone as it is very informative about the desert environment.

Yes, it's touristy, with lots of old buildings and trinket shops. It's moderately interesting to wander through (uphill as you enter and walk up Main Street to the top). There was a shoot-out drama on Main Street (see pictures) with shouting and loud bangs. The train ride was fun for a younger child, but more than olders wanted to pay. There were places to eat, but we didn't partake (except for the ice cream store doing a thriving business). You can park and enter the town for free.

I am staying in the south of Phoenix doing some COVID work at a hospital, had a day off and decided to go fora hike on Supersition Mountain. Beautiful day, awesome hike. Decided to stop at this cute little town. Lots of people around, by no means a COVID ghost town lol. I went to the Saloon (I believe this all the same management). I walked in and no one even looked up. I finally asked someone if it was seat yourself and got a response of "yea". I went outside, sat down at at a table and proceeded to sit there for 15 minutes. Two families came, one sat on each side of me and both of them were treated and had drinks and I was still not waited on. The server even waited on one group before the were fully seated. Both servers walked by without acknowledging me even as I signaled and spoke to one of them. I was fuming and just left but it must be awesome during a pandemic to just ignore paying customers. The town had several people but there wasn't much going on at the Saloon. I will never go back to this town no matter how "cute". the worst kind of tourist trap.

Definitely a money sucker! Everything costs and costs too much! The buildings are nicely restored and it is free to enter but every everything has a fee. The advertised zip line is ridiculous! Its more like a short ski lift/rope tow for waaay too much money. I did spend a couple of bucks at the shooting gallery at the end of town playing with my dad. The gallery set and detail is great. Really fun to look at. It was actually quite reasonable considering. It was a fun 10 min. Would not recommend if you have kids and don't want to drop a bunch of money. Because of the severe incline and condition of dirt surface I would not recommend for those needing walking assistance or wheel chair.

Easy drive over from Scottsdale for a few hour distraction.
We bought the combo passes which I would recommend. All three attractions are short but worth it. Kids also panned for gems which they later said was one of the funnest things from our week long trip. They also went on the ZIP line for which I would suggest to buy the second trip at half price ahead of time.
Adults enjoyed the history of the town and walking thru the old buildings. Prices at the various gift shops were also reasonable.
Take time to see the mountains beside the location which are stunning.

All in all, a pleasant visit. The owner of the mining Museum was particularly informative, and food at the Saloon was good and reasonably priced. So why 3 stars, then? Over half of the venues and attractions were closed with no explanation as to why they were closed and the park “ fully open “ on a Monday. Not a good practice. There has to be a way for a visitor to learn what is, and what isn’t open on a particular day. On the plus side, I did enjoy learning about mining and The Lost Dutchman mine. My wife was disappointed that neither the stagecoach or train was operational.
That’s why the mediocre three stars. If the venue/attractions issue can be solved then, by all means go. If not, lower your expectations by a good margin before you go and you’ll do OK

I believe it runs when the town is open. However, the train ride is not 20 minutes - maybe 10 minutes, goes in a big circle around the perimeter of the town. I just don't think it is worth the cost. Everything at Goldfield Ghost Town has separate fees so it gets quite expensive. Also, the building are NOT historic. They are all fairly new but made to look old. Big tourist trap.

how much cost for old time photo of us in time after timein old time clothes?
Written 19 March 2018
The pic itself I think was about $40-45, but I got copies (parents) as well as a very western frame. (Weathered wood, barbed wire and a horse shoe). So the actual cost was kind of lost in the total, lol.
I was on a roll, 3 weddings, 4 countries, in 30 days. I wanted to go specifically for a wedding style pic, and after 2 weddings and photos, and 1 more to go.. the cost was minimal compared to the personal value of adding it to the collection.

How much time would you typically spend here?
Written 2 March 2018
We spent a couple hours there. I’m sure if you pan for gold road take the mine tours etc you could spend a good half day or more.
