A well-organized trail system makes this the idea place to get into the forest! True beauty in the trees and along the active stream that goes through the park. Don't miss it!

Shhhhh. Don't tell anybody. OK I'll let the cat out of the bag. This park is a local's treasure. It represents what we here in Santa Cruz call "Tree and Sea". You can actually walk 15 minutes from the redwoods in Nisene Marks to the Monterey Bay at Seacliff State Beach. From fresh air to salt air....from the cool of... More

This is a gem near Santa Cruz... shaded by redwoods. Many trails to choose from, and really nice road for mountain bikers... You can park in Aptos and ride your bike free up the mountain, or drive your vehicle and pay $8 for entering the park. We had a lovely 7 mile hike, but you can choose much shorter or... More

This is a great park for 1-4 hour hikes. There are many hikes available depending on what you like. Drive to the last parking spot in the back past the bridge to get to the best hikes. You can hike to the epicenter of the Loma Prieta earthquake in 1989 if that is something that interests you, but to tell... More

I always go here when I get the chance. It is a spiritual experience to walk through these tall trees. The road is easy to walk because this is where the train track used to carry the trees down to the ocean to be moved and sold. They are so majestic that I do think of them as living beings.... More

Nisene has towering redwoods and wonderful trails to hike or just enjoy a leisurely stroll. So peaceful and serene. Our fery first trip here we entered the park and immediately saw a huge sow and her baby piglets on the side of the road, it was quite a site given that we were just seconds into the park off the... My husband and I came here during a visit to my brother in law who lives in nearby Soquel. We did a quick hike along an easy trail. We really enjoyed ourselves! The weather is ideal in this part of the state. There were lots of pines and lots of the Classic enormous redwoods. My Husband and I even stood... More
