The docent was very knowledgeable and gave us some interesting tidbits. Without visiting the museum we would have never known the fascinating reason for Atascadero and how it came to be. Worth taking 45 mins of your time, if in Atascadero.

A small locally-focused museum for those interested in the history of Atascadero. A nice well presented selection.

The museum is in a small home with tons of historical displays & facts about the area. Individuals of all ages, yes young children find it interesting and learn more about the history from 1800- current. Plan on spending 30- 60 minutes there.

I love the AHS museum because it really fun to travel back thru time. If you are lucky, you may catch town historian Lon Allen in his docent day/time slot when you visit here and the building across from it, the historic city hall building. Mr. Allen is such a nice man and a wealth of knowledge about Atascadero history. The museum is free but I always give a donation, it's worth it to keep the doors open here!…
