Step back in time 70 years to an era when big band leaders were king and “talkie” motion pictures were the latest fad. Put yourself in the footsteps of the performers and crew who made the Casino one of the most exciting places on earth. The Casino building is a working theater, ballroom, and concert hall to this day. Focusing on the cultural history of the building, this one-of-a-kind tour brings you unprecedented access to backstage areas that very few people are allowed to see; including the "green" room and editing room.

The behind the scenes tour was sooo great, and Frank made it such fun. Not sure exactly how many of his prolific stories about himself were true, but if 25% were, he has such a rich Catalina Island history. The tour should NOT be missed. We went on a Monday afternoon so there were only 7 of us. He took... More

This was really cool. Frankie from Avalon- not to be confused with the other Frankie was great. He clearly loves doing the tour and wants to share his knowledge. He was able to give his real life experiences being here back in the day into the tour for an added personal touch. The Casino and its history are amazing. The... More

We were greeted by the fabulous Rebecca our docent. She welcomed us before we were even able to enter the building. She was an elegant women dressed in her 20's attire ready to welcome us into the magic that is called the Catalina Casino. We were welcomed in to the theater first with it's perfect acoustics and the original pipe... More

My wife and I did this tour in August '16. The Casino, not the gambling kind, has a rich history and is a beautiful monument to a bygone era. Rebecca was our tour guide and she was Excellent!! Not only did she know detailed history but she sang some which added to the tour. Plus she is a fantastic lady.

First of all, What a Beautiful Building. From the fantastic ballroom (check out the original wooden floor) to the first movie theater built for "talkies", to the Art Deco motif carried throughout you will not be disappointed. Secondly, What a History Tour that will take you from the 30's to the Present. From the Wrigley's to every movie star to... More

Fun way to spend an hour. This tour is a little more expensive then the other one but going back stage and seeing the antiques definitely made it worth it. Our tour guide was informative and interesting.

We had Rebecca as our tour guide and it was obvious she loves what she does and knows her stuff. We highly recommend this tour, the casino is simply amazing! What history. There is so much to learn, and as Rebecca says, the tour should take 1-1/2 hours to get as much in as possible.

Party of three on the behind the scenes casino tour and all of us felt it was outstanding. Our tour guide Joe was extremely informative and humorous. The art deco and Tiffany were breathtaking. Walking behind the scenes and standing in rooms where some of the greats of Hollywood movies, comedians, and big band stars was wonderful. Walking outside and enjoying... More

On a recent cruise, we did the behind the scenes tour at the Casino. We booked it directly online, and were able to enjoy a wonderful tour, thanks to Rebecca. The building is very well maintained and beautiful. It would have been nice to attend something at the theatre, but unfortunately, not possible without staying on the island. Rebecca was... More

This building is a real treasure of art deco art and architecture, and it is amazingly well preserved. With the behind-the-scenes tour, you get to go up onstage, through the dressing rooms which have been decorated with some pieces of period clothing and costumes. My favorite parts were the camera room, where you can see all the actual antique film... More
