I was not really impressed with this museum. It seem lacking cohesion. Yes they had Indian stuff but not of the local tribes that had been pushed out since the early 1800s. Japanese area had stuff from China. Dissappointing.

Adorable little museum full of local treasures along with the history of Alamosa and the San Luis Valley. The museum attendant was knowledgeable and shared stories about their collections. It was a good, inexpensive stop to stretch the legs and learn about the local history!

This is a small museum that displays items of historical interest with good explanations. It helps one understand the mining, agriculture, and railroads that brought settles to the San Luis Valley. The docents are very helpful. While not large, we were glad to have experienced...More

Good place to stop by and look, one trip is enough, an hour is plenty of time to see most everything.

What a great museum of the history of the valley. Worth a visit. It is really nice and gives you a history lesson of the valley.

The San Luis Valley Museum is a jewel among small museums. Though tiny by some standards, it continually hosts events, special exhibits and has new acquisitions. A recent exhibit was of "Corn Women," also hosted in some bigger cities than Alamosa.
