The drive into the reservoir is just as beautiful as the reservoir itself. Alma is a cool mountain town.

Fished twice there with grandkids this month. Caught good number of rainbow trout in 10-12” range on earthworms. Fished right near north entrance of Platte into reservoir. Also hiked up to old golf mine, and took lots of pics of roaring stream.

I took my family with 3 small girls to go fishing at the reservoir and we had a great time. The down side was getting to the water. You have to park above the reservoir and then hike down a steep and rocky terrain to...More

We stayed in a cabin a couple miles away from Montgomery Reservoir so we went there a couple times during our stay. I have to say this was my favorite activity/place we visited on our whole trip. It’s in the middle of no where so...More

My darling climbs the ice during winter in this area and brought me here for the first time! It was a gorgeous sunny filled day in the snow! Not too cold but slightly breezy. Happy New Year! Starting it off right:)

The hike was well worth the view! Absolutely beautiful. My husband & I (both in our 70's), our son & daughter, two of our granddaughters & husbands & a great grandson made the hike.

Really enjoyed hiking a portion of the Wheeler trail. Out and back so go as far as you would like. Quite a bit of water on the trail as it doubles as a creek bed on a few sections but still easy enough to navigate.

Wen to Montgomery Reservoir as an easy hike we could take my 92 year old grandmother. The road up to the top of the res was fairly easy with a jeep trail going from there. We parked at the top of the res, and hiked...More

Beautiful Lake and great trout fishing - the hike up to Magnolia Mills is easy and we'll worth it. There is a beautiful stream cascading down next to the Mill to Montgomery reservoir.

I didn't see any restrictions regarding power bait posted or on the game and wildlife website. Might be worth a double check though before you go.
