This is a perfect trail for running, biking, or walking. You can spot wildlife and listen to the sounds of the water rushing past. Great trail for all ages. The entire walk is relatively flat and it is to access from town.

Relaxing and beautiful bike ride of only mild difficulty ( on way back to aspen ) great views of Roaring Fork river and some amazing homes. Fun and good lunch at Woodys Tavern in Woody Creek. Cash only at the restaurant!

Easy sidewalk type trail along the river. Be sure to walk through the beautiful John Denver sanctuary along the path with flowers, boulders, running streams.

The Rio Grande Trail is a paved (there are 2 miles of unpaved left in Aspen) bike/pedestrian path that winds along the Roaring Fork River, cattle ranches and mountains. It's absolutely gorgeous. You can ride all the way down to Glenwood Spring. A great way...More

A lovely walk or bike ride along the Roaring Fork river...feel like you're in the wilderness even in the middle of the city! Admire the outrageously priced houses among the trees or just enjoy the peace and quiet.

We could have cruised to Basalt. Biked about 5 miles out. Great look at the nature surrounding Aspen. Canyons, raging rapids of the Roaring Fork, waterfalls. So many things to see, not to mention the solar system info tour at many of the checkpoints along...More

Read good things about this trail online. I wanted to get some higher elevation training in since Grand Junction is only 4700ft. The trail is very beautiful! I started in the Aspen side so majority of the ride was downhill. Wide open paved trail with...More

Our favorite thing to do on warm-weather trips to Aspen is to rent bikes in Aspen and ride along the Rio Grande Trail to Woody Creek Tavern for lunch. It's a fairly flat ride (though a tiny bit uphill after lunch), but it's a wonderful...More

Nice bike ride down to glenwood except for one section not paved. If you have a nice road bike you need to be careful. Easy to catch a RFTA bus back to Aspen all buses have bike racks too.

We rented our bikes (and subsequently bought them, since we come every year and have a residence interest at the Ritz) from Four Mountain Sports. The rental and subsequent purchase were quite reasonable. (970) 920-2337

It's about 9 miles if you are picking up the trail at the Basalt high school. Might be a little less if you are taking the spur trail from downtown Basalt and picking up the Rio Grande trail (there's a trail junction 1/2... More
