Took the Independence Pass to Aspen from Denver. What beautiful scenery. It really is a must do. Don't listen to the people who say the road is scary it's not true. The road isn't that narrow just take it slow.

In the heart of summer don't expect to zip over Independence Pass. This road is meant to be enjoyed and shared, you'll want to stop and capture some photos along the way!

One of the most beautiful drives in Colorado. The top of the pass has an observation deck which you should stop to check out, be sure to go there with a jacket since it's high elevation makes it really cold. If you are not comfortable driving narrow roads I wouldn't recommend do in it since it can be a stressing... More

This drive is so beautiful we did it 3 times over the course of a long weekend. Plenty of places to pull off for photos or hiking. Don't expect to drive quickly in the fall! Remember to drive up to the ghost mining town for a look around as well!

I drove all over Colorado on vacation and didn't see a road that wasn't breathtaking, if not a little scary if your not used to them. My advice is take your time, enjoy and follow the speed limit signs.

You're above the tree line, so at the summit to Independence Pass can appear somewhat barren if there is no snow. The 12,000 plus elevation will wind you if you run around or exert yourself. This area is an excellent gateway to explore more back county like the hike to Mount Evans, one of the highest mountains in the lower... More

Independence Pass aka Highway 82 heads out of Aspen and up to the Continental Divide at 12,092 feet. The drive to the top takes about 30 minutes (if you don't stop at the many pull over spots along the way) It is one of the most spectacular drives in the world with breathtaking views.

We were lucky to have the opportunity to drive this amazing road before it closed for the winter. Wow was it worth it! We easily stopped 10 times along the route for pictures of the amazing scenery. This is a MUST DO if making the drive from Aspen to Colorado Springs

Wow!! This place was amazing!! We visited on a crisp and sunny day. The drive was amazing! A little narrow at times, but spectacular. On the way back into Aspen, we stopped at several little spots on the way down. Take advantage of the beauty! The 2-3 hour recommendation I make is for the drive there and back from downtown... It shaves some distance on the drive from the Roaring Fork Valley to Denver but not any time as it's a very windy road. The pass sits on the continental divide. It's closed for the winter typically from Labour Day to Memorial day.
