Beautiful drive

This was a beautiful drive. A little scary in a few spots and a few very narrow lanes. This is worth the drive!

We drove this road from East to West, ending up in Aspen. There are some terrifically beautiful views. There are also some very scary spots. This was without a doubt the scariest drive we did in our 12 days of mountain driving in Colorado. The scariest part is when the very narrow road has a sign warning you that the... More

Beautiful views but not for the faint of heart - only one lane in some areas. Also, very high altitude, sometimes was at a loss of breath!

This was a highlight of a trip made explicitly to enjoy the quaking aspens. The pass with aspens is gorgeous and the SUR-pass across 12,000ft Continental Divide with breathtaking views is astonishing. Put this on your bucket list!

30 minute drive is very scary but gorgeous. It's located at 12k feet elevation so drink plenty of water so you won't get altitude sickness. Highly recommend to go on the way to Canon City for a Royal Gorge train ride (about 3:30 hour drive away)

Make sure you stop as you pass through. It has a small trail out to a plateau with an amazing vista. The drive up to the pass from the west is CRAZY!

We went for a fall color drive from vail. We drove up from the Leadville side to aspen. I always wanted to do this drive as I am always here in the winter for skiing. the drive up was wonderful with the view of the lake. the top was chilly and a bit windy. the real joy was the drive... More

Getting there was much less than half the fun. I could never have driven it, white knuckles and eyes shut on several hairpin turns coming up. Thank goodness for my husband, who has no fear of heights. At the top you know it was worth it! More incredible vistas await as you continue down toward Aspen.

We drove into and out of Aspen via this gorgeous pass. Yes, it's a two-lane mountain road, but really it is not all that scary. Just take your time and enjoy the sights. There is a large parking lot and viewing area at the top which is the Continental Divide. Stop at the various pull-off spots to really take a... More
