Lovely spot for a dip, wade or picnic

We got there after Caracol on a sunny day and it was gorgeous. We didn’t feel like swimming but did wade and it was very nice – great place for a picnic.

This is a good place to visit if you're on your way back from Caracol. I don't think I'd make a special trip out there from San Ignacio unless you're really into swimming in a river. We stopped by there with some little kids coming back from Caracol and it was a hit.

It is a journey to get there and yes the roads are rough but once you are there this place is really nice. Cool waters and the scenery was amazing. We arrived later in the day and practically had it to ourselves. There is a need for caution because the rocks are slippery . Also if you are coming in... More

The pools are incredible whether you are viewing them from afar at the upper level parking lot, or from close up if you take one of the two paths to get to them! Clear water, beautiful boulders and sparkling falls make this a great spot for photographers and nature enthusiasts! The steps down to the lower pools are steep and... More

We enjoyed a beautiful afternoon at this great swimming location. Parking lot was close by and a short walk to the pools. I enjoyed lounging on the rocks and taking in the scenery while my husband enjoyed taking a refreshing dip in the larger pool. Seems to be duty within a valley surrounded by beautiful trees all around. We were... More

These pools created by waterfalls are great to swim in and beautiful to view. This is worth the hour and a quarter drive over unpaved, rough roads. Pack a picnic and your swimsuit and enjoy nature far away from civilization. It is obvious the locals enjoy this from the number of campfire remains that can be found.

The road out is fairly bumpy, so expect slow going. We drove from San Ignacio and it took almost two hours. It had been raining, so maybe the road was more rutted than usual. The pools themselves are quite beautiful, with several small waterfalls and natural water slides. There are a few sandy beaches for a picnic lunch. The only... More

The Rio cuts through some spectacular granitic rocks creating small and large falls over about a half mile stretch that's easily accessible for picnics, swimming (skinny dipping?) and whatever...Our stop came at the tail end of a trip to Caracol, so we were all ready to immerse ourselves in the cool waters...

Very inaccessible unless you're taking a tour, this area of small waterfalls and pools is a lovely place to relax and cool off after a tour of Caracol and is included in every tour. There's a vantage point you'll see first to take great photos and then the guide will walk you down to the water where it's quite safe... More

A very wide space in the river, with many pools and little waterfalls. Very scenic and and relaxing. We were only there are short time (as part of a larger tour) but it would be nice place to bring a picnic and stay for a few hours.

Thank JIM B
