This is the final resting place and therefore a sacred space for many. It's phenomenally beautiful. So neat to have to swim across rivers and into/through a cave and then climb subterranean boulders and imagine how many ancient footsteps you are following. Poignant and fascinating. Book River Rat for the most fulfilling experience.

This is an all day tour for us we were staying in Hopkins so we had to ride 2hours by van each way to get there. Th jungle and the cave were amazing. Definitely some difficult climbing inside the cave. Worth it to see what's inside. Make sure you bring sturdy climbing shoes (they will get soaked) socks and a... More

This was easily the highlight of our time in Guatemala and Belize. If you are in Belize and you pass up a chance to do this activity, you have made a grave mistake. We drove maybe 60-70m from the Sleeping Giant to the drop-off point for the ATM tour. Its a pretty bumpy but scenic drive. You should be able... More

This tour was such a great adventure. We aren't usually much for tours but this one was a fantastic experience. Gonzo was the best guide as he was part of the team of archeologists that worked in the cave to find all of the artifacts. The climbing through tiny spaces and swimming the cave were kind of intimidating but a... More

While staying at Pook's Hill Lodge we participated in the ATM Cave tour. It required a half hour drive followed by a 45 minute hike fording 3 river crossings to get to the mouth of the cave. The cave itself was phenomenal...but not for the faint of heart! It took a good deal of physical effort to accomplish this caving... More

Our trip to ATM was the highlight of our visit to the Cayo district. As all the reviews say, this is a mixture of real adventure, and Indiana Jones archeology. Let me start by saying that my wife is mildly claustrophobic, and was unsure about this trip. But thanks to a wonderful guide (Brainard of True Vine Adventures) she not... More

I didnt know what to expect. We drove 2 hours to get there and our drivers had to stop and Cahal Pech to get our tickets (gggrrrr!) wasting valuable time. Once at the cave we had to change into our wet gear and we began the 30 min walk to the cave entrance. You cross 3 rivers. Easy enough. We... More

You have to be in good physical condition and comfortable with swimming, hiking/wading in water and scrambling on boulders as well as climbing in order to participate in this activity. You will be handed a helmet with an attached light. The hard plastic helmets can be adjusted to fit your head. However, if you are able to do this, you... More

I was a little nervous about this tour because everyone kept saying it was strenuous but it really wasn't. The fact that they let you visit this cave is amazing and the guides are so knowledgeable. You are hiking and swimming and climbing but it isn't as much of a workout as people say. If you are in decent shape,... More

We were here on my wife's 40th birthday with her mother (62) and our three kids (10, 8, 5). It was astounding. Possibly the most amazing experience of my life. I can't believe a place like this exists in the world and is open to the public. It was difficult for us to find a guide willing to take our... More
