Had a lot of fun and learned a bunch of interesting facts on the chocolate, spice and Mayan ruin tour. We explored the ruins site and artifacts before moving on to the IXCACAO chocolate "factory", really a small family run operation. There we learned about the cacoa plant and the origins of chocolate. Even made a candy bar the old... More

The Kriol Heat: Firehearth Cooking, Drumming and an Ixcacao Chocolate Dessert Tour with Taste Belize was my favorite part of my Belize trip! Lyra Sprang is an excellent guide on this journey. She is from Belize and has more knowledge of her homeland than I do of my own it seems. Not only did we learn about ingredients and cooking... More

My wife and I just spent the last two days with Lyra on a Mayan Fire Cooking and a chocolate factory tour. She made the days completely unique and unforgettable. She's the best!

Because of where it is this tour involves over 4 1/2 hours of sitting in the van. The chocolate farm was interesting but it all took place at Juan's house. The demonstration trees are in his yard, then you go upstairs and sit again for his talk and the tasting demonstration. His processing plant is on the ground floor. Lunch... More

Dear Fishingforinfo, I am sorry if our tour was not up to par on the day that you went with us. Typically we have a microphone so everyone can hear in the van but it was out of service. Yes it is a bit over 2 hours to drive from Placencia to Toledo District that is the heart of our... More

I did alot of research before coming to Placencia and chose Taste Belize Tours because I'm passionate about food, culture and learning. Lyra answered my emails promptly and gave me many options to choose from. The day long tour exceeded my expectations and fed into my passions and my stomach! We loved our tour with Lyra. She is very educated, and very passionate, about the history and cultures in Belize. She also knows quite a bit about the local flora and fauna. We went on the Chocolate Jungle tour, and it was really great. Loved seeing the Mayan chocolate factory and meeting the owners, and also the farm.

Taste of Belize is a Must Do. Our tour was to the Chocolate factory is San Felipe village with Juan and family, and then to the Spice Farm. Lyra is a fountain of knowledge on all things Belize. From cultural topics, to plants and food, you can learn so much and be better informed of Belize in so many aspects.... More

Yesterday we visited Ixcacao Chocolate and a Spice Farm with Lyra. Both tours were an amazing learning experience. Lyra's extensive knowledge of the area and the processes added to the very rich content presented by Juan, a Myan chocolate producer and Fidel, at the spice farm. Included in the price of the trip was an amazing lunch prepared by Abelina... More

Lyra. The owner guided 9 of us today to ixcacao, spice farm, and short stop at her friends who smoke red peppers and a quick dip in local creek. This young lady knows Belize and answers all questions with a smile. Was going to rent car and do on our own and figure this about same $ with her knowledge... More
