I've been to the Iximche ruins twice and both times I did a guided tour. I highly recommend have a guide with you, otherwise it will probably be just a place with a lot of bricks to you. When you listen to the history behind...More

My daughter’s family and I went to Iximche today. We were advised to use the guide, who is Mayan, so we did. The grandkids were very attentive and asked great questions. The guide was very knowledgeable and spoke to us in both English and Spanish....More

The ruins are very interesting but the use that they still today makes them even more interesting. We watched a Mesoamerican ball game that was being played by local youngsters and we attended a Mayan ceremony that was taking place there...

This was worth the long bus ride from our cruise ship. These ruins are from the late post-classic period - the city was burned by the Spanish in the 1520s and has suffered from earthquakes since then, so you won't see the towering pyramids that...More

We stopped here on our way to Panajachel. It's not a large ruin site, but it's well maintained and includes a museum. Worth the stop if you are going to Atitlan.

This ancient Mayan city, has been excavated and now turned into a park. It is very beautiful, however the ruins have been badly desecrated graffiti by and modern etchings. In spite of an admission charge, the ruins are not guarded or protected. Even the signage...More

It's worth the Q100 to hire a guide here. Enjoyed a morning of exploring the ruins. There was a ceremony going on that we were able to watch. All in all well worth the visit!

We visited Iximche on a Monday morning, arrived about 10:30am and pretty much had the place to ourselves. There is a 50Q admission (about $7). There is a small museum near the entrance and restrooms and concession stand nearby. The grounds are absolutely spotless. Not...More

A nice place to visit, not so touristic but full of local people which is always nice to see. We arrived shortly before closing time ( closes at 4h00 pm) and the caretaker was not so keen into letting us linger much longer, a pity...More

many of the hotels are rentable for 1 hour and are catered to secrecy with hidden car parking. They can be very inexpensive and will take people in for a whole night. We stayed accidently and I wouldn't do it again.
