My trip to Float Utila had come after a particularly stressful week of work. I arrived with mixed feelings and an anticpation of boredom- would I enjoy being silent and still for one whole hour? But when I saw the tank, I realised that I was about to experience something extraordinary The water is so boyant with Epsom salts, that... More

Today was my first experience of floating and it was sensational. I've been living on Utila for over 3 months and wish I'd tried it sooner. The tank is soundproofed and completely dark, having no light or sound on this island is rare to say the least. Part way through I think I fell asleep, when I woke up I... More

With some friends we have for a while been talking about how incredible it would be to experiment sense deprivation in a floating tank. And just like that without any planning my wife and I heard about a tank during a trip to Honduras. Our experiences had to do with getting in contact with "our center" from a different "place"... Being an exhausted mother of two under two has me going at a break neck pace all day everyday. It is so easy to become depleted in every sense of the word. It was recommended that I take an hour out of my day to float and try to relax to replenish my energy for myself and my family. It... More

I had for many years wanted to experience a deprivation tank. While checking out things to do while visiting my friend in Utila, I found Float Utila. They have the largest deprivation tank in the world! I decided to treat my very skeptical friend to an hour float. We both loved the experience. The couple who own the business are... More

Experiencing Float Utila was not my first attempt at blocking out the rest of the world and achieving total relaxation, but it was definitely the most successful! The conditions are set perfectly- Air and water at body temperature, complete darkness(if you want it!) and no outside distractions whatsoever. At the same time it's great for your skin. All you have... More

This was my first time in a sensory deprivation room, so I had no idea what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I was able to relax totally (not an easy thing for me to do otherwise) in the bed of body temperature supersaturated salt water. .The only sensations I experienced were the sounds of my heart... I immediately doubted my decision to float. I am slightly afraid of the dark and wasn't sure I could handle an hour free from stimuli. But I was committed. I climbed in and, with the light on, touched every wall and just floated until I got comfortable. Two minutes later, I dared flick off the light. I felt warm, comfortable... More

I wasn't sure what to expect and was really impressed with my experience. The tank is HUGE and the guy that runs it, John, is a really nice guy. After a nice long float I felt relaxed and ready to deal with the hustle and bustle of Utila. I recommend it highly.

What an amazing experience and gift. The sensory deprivation system John has created allows for total relaxation of the senses wile bringing the mind to states of euphoria. I originally entered the float with a hurt back that was bothering me for days. The pain has not returned since! . Floating was a spiritual experience for me as well and... More
