This museum has a very extensive permanent collection. We found the special exhibit featuring artwork depicting the Brooklyn Bridge fascinating. It also has a lovely sculpture garden!

We had the opportunity to attend the sneak Preview of the Russian exhibit and had access to the rest of the displayed collection. I especially enjoyed the treatment of the Brooklyn Bridge; a collection of works depicting the landmark bridge by various artists. This museum is free to everyone. Stay the day. There's a lot to see.

Yes, we currently have plenty to see and you could make a day of it! But especially since the museum is free, we also encourage repeat shorter visits — another way to take in the variety that the museum offers, and to make it more likely to see all of our temporary shows. Thank you for your review. More

I'll save you the gory details suffice to say the entire experience of trying to park a MCY at the museum is extremely frustrating. So much so that we finally gave up and left.

We're very sorry to hear of your efforts to park your motorcycle in order to visit the museum. We regret that you did not receive helpful guidance from the signage or attendants that you encountered at the gated parking decks near the museum on the University of Georgia campus. Parking at the university is highly controlled, and most of the... More

Beautiful building with great exhibits from 1600's to modern. Staff helpful, but not obtrusive, allowing you to browse at your own pace.

I didn't think I was interested in modern art. One trip here proved I was wrong. I loved it. I learned so much. My husband and I dodged scorching summer heat and meandered through the many galleries, taking our time, and turning our visit into a romantic date. We discussed what we liked, the amazing processes in creating the pieces... More

You hit on two great features of the Georgia Museum of Art! We show all kinds of art (including contemporary art), and it's a wonderful refuge when the weather isn't comfortable or conducive to outdoor activities. It's nice to hear that your visit was such a pleasant surprise. More

Tragically, when I went to the Museum it had an entire wing being redone so the non-modern art wasn't available for viewing. There were objects (furniture, etc.) out that were pretty interesting, but I'm not into modern 'art' so that wing was lost on me. I liked enough of what I saw to consider going back, if I ever have... More

We apologize that half of our permanent collection wing was closed when you visited. The reinstallation of our collection that we are undertaking is so comprehensive that it would not have been possible to do it in stages — hence the temporary closing. Please consider another visit if you are able, we think you will be impressed! More

This is an excellent academic museum, showing mostly newer works, no antiquities. I would say it's on a par with Princeton or Rutgers. Until 8/07/16 there is a very nice Exhibition of 32 pieces from the Mason collection of wood art. There's a nice gift shop, and I believe there's no admission.

The Museum's permanent collection is wonderful and the visiting exhibits can be very fine. It is not a large museum so you can visit without feeling overwhelmed as in many museums. There are lots of lectures and family activities on offer. There is a coffee shop and a lovely gift shop.

We appreciate your nice summary of what the museum offers! Note to visitors in summer 2016: the American and European painting section of our permanent collection is closed until late August for a major reinstallation — but our decorative arts galleries are open! And we have a very robust temporary exhibition open all summer, "Paper in Profile: Mixografia and Taller... More
