Going to see this tree that owns itself is hardly worth doing. You may want to do it because it's promoted as a "thing to do." But, once you see it you will wonder why it is even listed. It's a quick drive-by look and that's it.

I loop this into the same category as the Double Barreled Cannon, fun to see and take a pic, but only if you have time to spare... The Tree that owns Itself is a glorious concept and shows how even 100 years ago, Athenians were forward thinkers. Honest and caring, this Tree shows that love and devotion hold no bounds...... I feel kinda bad for rating the tree only a three, but I need to be forthright with my fellow travelers. I mean, it's a tree. Technically it's not even the original tree. The concept it cool though and it's a fun walk up a cobblestone hill to view it. If you're in downtown Athens and you have a 1/2... More

It's simply a tree. There's nothing fancy about it, but that's ok. It's a really unique piece of Athens history. The cobblestone road was really cool too. Yes, it's bumpy but that's normal for a very old cobblestone road. It's worth the drive by.

Saw online before visiting Athens, read the history and wanted to see it myself. A quick stop as their isn't much to see. I will warn that the turn off W Broad onto S Finley is cobblestone and bumpy as h***. Scared us too!

This tree is the offspring of the original tree. It is in a small lot that was deeded to the tree. This is a local curiosity.

Yeah. Just a tree. With a plaque. Are you an arboreal fetishist who is really into plaques? You need to come here immediately! If that's not you, though, you can totally skip it.

How many towns gave a tree that owns itself. Sitting right in the middle of the street. A unique attraction for Athens.

We stopped here to see this unusual tree and to pick up a geocache here. We ended up replacing one instead. Nice quiet little street.
