This home, ca. 1856, is the only surviving building in this section of Athens. There are many period pieces, along with a "history room" that showcases memorabilia of the resident families and of Athens history. There is also the Lyndon House Arts Center attached along with history of a grand old tree and it's effect on Athens.

The tour was done by the Visitor Center on Dougherty Street -- not the big conference welcome center.

Take a picnic to the lawn in the back, tour the house and take a step back in time…..but don't forget the amazing art center attached.

Antebellum home. The interior has been restored and arranged with decorative art and furnishings of the period. The historic display room features artifacts (with informative labels) that are relevant to the historic house and to the history of Athens. Often used now for weddings and receptions. We went through this house on the Museum Mile Tour.
