I missed the tour because of horrible construction traffic - takes at least a half an hour longer to get there from Kohala side - one lane at times and waiting for other side to pass - and the mud road they warn you not...More

We stopped by to take in the beautiful views from the top but did not have enough time to hike down. Still very worth making the drive.

We visited Waipio Valley in the afternoon and after taking in the magnificent view from the top, decided to tackle the steep road down to the bottom. A few returning hikers said the walk down was the worst part. We found this to be absolutely...More

You can walk the road down (then back up) or ride in a 4x4. I did the latter with a tour company. Our guide pointed out how everyone walking has a smile on the way down and a look of despair on the way up....More

This was a beautiful location. We got to the beach in our 4 wheel drive Jeep. The view was incredible. We walked up the river for a bit and encountered wild horses which the kids loved.

I went here with my family. Parking was absolutely awful, but we eventually found a spot. You can either hike down into the valley or drive with a 4WD vehicle, but I suggest the hike if you are in reasonable shape (my mother in law...More

We went out exploring and stumbled upon this gem. The overlook is beautiful and inspired us to make the hike down. The road is almost at a 45 degree angle and despite the warnings in my head, we continued down. The beach was breathtaking and...More
