About
We are growers and makers of single origin, 100% Hawaiian chocolate. Our 1,000 acre cacao farm is set high on the slopes of Mauna Kea, just outside of Hilo, where the rich volcanic soil adds depth and flavor to our cocoa beans. We invite you to take the scenic drive up to our Visitor Center where you'll be welcomed with sweeping mauka to makai views. Enjoy samples of our handcrafted chocolates at the Visitor Center & Gift Shop! Embark on a Tree-to-Chocolate Tour with our knowledgeable guides where you'll explore our cacao orchards, walk through our chocolate processing facilities, visit the chocolate lounge and learn about the tree-to-chocolate journey. Our vast lanai (porch) is a great place to take in the views of Hilo. Entrance to our Visitor Center & Gift Shop is free and open to the public.

Oh my gosh! Not only are the views spectacular at this farm, the people are fantastic and so knowledgeable. This was so interesting to learn about how chocolate his made. Extra bonus, we were able to sample the various kinds made at the farm and YUM YUM YUM! Definitely bought some to take home although most did not make it past the first day as devoured it!
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us such a great review! We pride ourselves on customer service and love to hear about everyone's experience with us!

    An Experience Worth Taking
Phil, our tour guide, was very knowledgeable and personable. The tour was an hour, but you won’t even notice the time go. We learned about the 3 types of cacao trees grown on the farm and the 4th one in the works, the fruits grown to influence the chocolate favors, and how cacao is processed and used in various chocolate types, coffee, tea, etc. The best part of the tour is tasting the cacao with the mucilage fresh from a newly opened cacao pod and the artisan chocolate samples made directly on the farm. If you are coming from Waikoloa, I suggest you leave a couple of hours early to give you enough time to get there.
Aloha and mahalo for visiting! We appreciate you for taking one of our Tree-to-Chocolate Tours with Phil! He's fantastic. Thank you for your kind words as well!

    Go and visit!!
Happened to find them on Facebook, after watching a beautiful sunrise. Called Lavaloha as booking online was a bit difficult and they were very easy going! Phil, our tour guide, was not only informative, but quite funny. Tasting the chocolates was definitely a highlight and I HIGHLY recommend this tour!!
Mahalo for leaving us such a great review! Phil is great and we're so happy you enjoyed your time with us!

The tour yesterday with Jess was absolutely amazing! We loved seeing the chocolate making process and appreciate that this farm does it all on site. Seeing the trees, buds, pods, and various parts of the process really make you appreciate all that goes into the delicious chocolate. No part of the chocolate goes to waste and they do a lot to be environmentally friendly and sustainable. We loved everything we tasted and even stopped back to get more gifts as we left Hilo. As a side note, the chocolate body butter feels and smells incredible. Highly recommend this tour and delicious chocolate!

Nick was very informative, friendly and funny. It was cool to taste the raw cocoa and of course tasting the chocolate was awesome too! Enjoyed the view from the deck and the assortment of things to buy in the little store. Very fun trip!

The tour guide Jessica was friendly and knowledgable. The farm is beautiful. The tour itself encompasses all five senses. You have opportunity to try cacao in all stages. This has been our favorite tour of the trip.

They have really good chocolate and staffs are super nice. I had a really good experience going to the farm and touring the plants. We get to eat the chocolate fruit raw from their farm. It was interesting. If 42 dollars is not a big deal to you, it's a great experience. However, if 42 dollars is a lot to you, then I think you can skip the tour and just use the money to buy the chocolate. I wish someone had said that in the review. The tour is very short. You get to walk near the trees. Then you get to see the fermentation process. Then there's a video of the process of chocolate making. You get to taste the cocoa butter and small pieces of milk, orange, dark chocolate. For me, 42 dollars is a little bit too much.

Such a fun short tour to take. Hands on participation and you get to taste the finished product. It was nice to visit a local grower that does everything themselves. They produce a superior product. Plus they grow their own coffee which they incorporate into a variety of chocolate products.

I never knew how chocolate grew or was processed! The blending of 3 different types of chocolate pods and the amount of cacao in their chocolate gives their chocolate a uniquely rich quality. Went with a group of friends-so much fun!
