- Amy F2 contributionsDomi is a Fantastic Guide! We rode with Domi from Kaua'i Luxury Adventures on an NCL tour. He was entertaining on the long drives to see the different parts of the island. He shared his vast knowledge, endless anecdotes and more serious tales, and he even produced a booster seat (unprompted) for our 7yo. We loved our tour with Domi.Visited April 2024Travelled with familyWritten 13 April 2024

We went on the Waimea Canyon tour with Stephen Devin and he was awesome! Very informative and very accommodating. Great personality, great interaction. The tour was wonderful, getting to see the island and its beauty. The Canyon is beyond breathtaking!! I could have stayed for hours. It did rain and we weren’t able to see the ocean or the Nāpali coastline because of the fog but still an amazing tour and an amazing guide. The waterfalls and Spouting Horn were awesome. Thank you Stephen for a very memorable experience.

Toured with Domi, best Guide we have ever had anywhere. Taught us a lot about Kauai and kept things fun and entertaining all day. He even serenaded us with his Eukelele at lunch. Can't say enough good about Domi and this tour company.

Not sure which of these i did as i booked it through carnival cruises but it was a fun time.
We drove through Kauai with our great guide/driver
Uncle Coach patrick. He was a fun guy and kept us engaged and on time for us to see everything and make it back to the boat on time.
We had a lovely ride to Fern Grotto than a nice drive to North shore where we stopped to see beautiful scenery. We than got a quick sandwich lunch eaten at the beach before we made it to the beautiful Maunakapu and Wailua River.
Fun times minimal walking needed which was great for any older people who maybe not be as mobile.

We had a bit of a different experience on Kauai. We booked the Land and River tour before our trip started. We later booked a River and Air tour on our cruise ship to get the helicopter ride, so we ended up with the same ground trip twice.
Domi was our driver the 2nd day. He was awesome. Highly recommended.
We had Steve on our first day. On the plus side, Steve was very accommodating. He picked up and dropped off guests at a variety of locations. He took the time to learn and remember everyone's name and where we were from. The tour locations were great, many beautiful spots.
The negatives pretty much ruined the tour for my girlfriend and I, although they might be positives for some folks. Steve took pride in being politically incorrect, making a number of racist and sexist comments throughout the trip. He made comments about how his nature might hurt his tips but he said he was too old to care.
If you are looking for a tour where half the trip is about the driver's experiences on the island, past work history, and run ins with famous people, 1/4 of the trip is about his right wing political and conservative religious views, and 1/4 of the trip is about the island, then Steve is the driver for you. The rest of the folks in our tour were pretty conservative, so they seemed to enjoy his comments about "Slick Willy Clinton", "That lying crook Hillary", "The angry Hawiians", and the like. The rest of the guests comments likely spurred Steve on more.
Personally, I take a guided tour to learn about the area I am visiting. It was a lovely area, but our experiences with Steve were definitely the low point of our 10 days on the various Hawiian Islands.
I'd give Domi's tour a 4. Steve's is getting a 2, up from a 1 only because of the beautiful spots we visited.

The late great Howard Cossell was usually the Most Loved and simultaneously the Most Hated sportscaster in his heyday. I wonder what the tour would have been like with Domo? Our leader was a polarizing figure as he had some very strong social, political, religious ideas that offended both my wife and me. It would have been one thing to drop a questionable remark here and there, but it was non-stop amplified commentary, mostly about where he went to school and who he used to date and where the original highway used to run, stuff like that. I didn't learn a thing about the history of Kauai or its geological make-up or the flora and fauna.
There were six couples on our tour and two others joined us at the concierge desk at the Bali Hai to express our displeasure. That being said there were a few people on the bus who laughed at everything he said. The closest I can come to describing him is a cross between Rodney Dangerfield and Henny Youngman ("Good evening sir. You have a lovely wife there . . . if that is indeed your wife wink wink har har har").
I would have tolerated the guide but what seemed underhanded to me was that the tour began at our hotel on a pretty rainy morning. As soon as the four couples got in the van THEN the guide called the boat tour and the airplane tour to see if they were still on, which of course they weren't, but at that point we were trapped. While the boat tour did happen the plane was cancelled, the traffic delays prevented us from going to the lighthouse, and the "local" restaurant was a crappy Mexican place.
We booked the plane trip ourselves at a later date. The boat tour is right off the main highway and is pretty silly, anyway. The lighthouse is right off the main highway. We didn't get any price break other than paying this joker to drive us around in the rain for 7 hours.
I post this after much consideration. Travel can be tiring and stressful, and expectations are often high. It is, after all, our vacation, and Hawaii isn't the cheapest place to visit. That being said I'd put this in the Rip Off category.

We were recommended this tour highly by family. They traveled with Domi and had nothing but good things to say. We had someone other than Domi, and I wouldn't recommend this tour with him (Steve? I think). During the course of the tour he made inappropriate comments about people on the tour, joked that an asian man was named "George" because it was easier, he made inappropriate and offensive comments about Muslims when we saw people with headscarves on the tour, and overall was unpleasant. If you do this tour, specify you go with Domi. If he is unavailable, don't go

The tour itself was okay. You are able to see a few nice spots, but I couldn’t get out of the car fast enough by the end of the tour. The guide would not stop bringing up politics. There were at least 6 instances where he would either talk about how “all the liberals are gonna take our guns” or “I can’t wait until Biden is gone in 2024” or “nobody wants to work anymore because of all these government handouts”.
I am on vacation. regardless of your stance, I want to get away from all this stuff, I don’t want the be preached to while I’m trying to enjoy the island. Domi, my guy, you gotta cool it on the politics.

I apologize for this and I will discuss this issue with my guide ASAP. Domi is our top guide and usually gets really high ratings so I am very surprised at this.

Do you pick up at Nawiliwili port? NCL Pride of America
Written 25 September 2019
Yes, we can pick up passengers at the ABC Store who are coming in on the Pride of America. It is a 5-10 minute walk out of the port or you can take a free shuttle.
