A lot of the rental places and excursions said the snorkeling was poor here, but it was excellent. Clear water, protected rocky area for coral and tons of fish. The beach is busy and touristy because it's behind the resorts, but on the plus side, that means there are plenty of bathrooms and drinks/food. Only negative is there aren't any... More

Black Rock is at one end of Kaanapali Beach. If at the beach area it is a must see. The rocks are easy to climb and jump in to the Ocean. A must see.

If you are just beginning to snorkel, this is not the place for you. If you do want to go out, make sure you wear air tubes so that you stay afloat. Nevertheless, this is a very beautiful place to snorkel.

Black Rock (aka Pu'u Keka'a) is on the north side of the Sheraton at Ka'anapali. The beach is glorious, although at the Sheraton end there are no amenities. There is a small amount of designated beach parking in the Sheraton car park. There's a bit of a nasty current on the corner, so wouldn't recommend it for those who are... More

We saw turtles while snorkeling and the cliff diving at sunset was great. It was a good family beach and great for walking.

We swam out to Black Rock 3 different days to jump off of it. It was easily my son's favorite part of the vacation. There is good snorkeling on the swim out. The current can be strong so be smart. Great place to go. Enjoy!!

I suspect it is not necessarily a good idea to jump from this cliff unless you have jumped from high areas before and you are a good swimmer. My friend and I are both so felt pretty confident with jumping. I found the path leading to the jump the most difficult part of it. My flip-flops were a pain. Wear... More

Hey everyone. Black rock is beautiful. But very very dangerous. The surf is very powerful nothing like the carribean. Use caution

Easy water and good introduction to snorkelling. If you want a good family event and a beginners site for swimming, this is the place. Lots of fish, potential turtles, and just a nice beach to enjoy Maui.
