Great Place!

Great place to snorkel when not too windy. Get there early as the beach/water quickly fills up with people. Lot's of fish to see and several turtles frequently visit.

We've been a couple of times to snorkel here, and even under the best of ocean conditions I would never recommend this spot for snorkeling because of the crowds, unless you like snorkeling with fins in your face! There are much better spots elsewhere that are less crowded and where you will see more sea life. With that being said,... More

The beach is very nice. The views are great. The snorkeling is OK. You can see turtles and fish, but you can see more and larger variety at some of the other locations. There is a limited number of free beach access parking (Ka’anaplai Beach Lower Public Parking structure or the lot next door), but you need to know where... More

It's in front of several big hotels. Parking can be tricky. Lots of familes on the beach and kids in the water. The rock outcropping does have fish and turtles hanging out near it. Water isn't all that clear. The current can be difficult to deal with near the tip. We got sandblasted on a windy day.

My husband and I just returned from a week in Maui. The hotel recommended this place close to the hotel. We went 3 times. Go early, 8 - 8:30 a.m. There will be others there but you will be among the first. Lots of fish and saw at least 3 turtles the first day although we saw them everyday. Stay... More

We stopped to snorkel at Black Rock and based on a number of locations we have snorkeled at in the past would only rate this a 3 as it was just ok.

This is a good snorkeling spot. There are a lot of beautiful colorful fish to see. It's a little difficult to find parking but once you do it's worth it.

I had heard this was the best snorkeling in Maui. Not even close! This is right in front of the Sheraton Maui. I was snorkeling should to shoulder with a lot of other people. The reef has been beat up and the sea life was sparse. There is a better reef about 1/2 mile north in front of the Westin... More

One of the truly great snorkeling spots on Maui. Easy entry. Lots of fish. Usually see turtles. Suggest entering the water from the east side. Snorkel all the way out and around the bend, 50 - 75 yards. This will get you away from the crowds that can sometimes be there and where the light can be really good. The... More

This was one of my first times snorkeling in Hawaii, and it was awesome. We saw a variety of fish, coral, and two turtles. We had no problems. Some of the people don't know what personal space is, but that can be expected when turtles are around. We were completely comfortable. It is definitely a place to check out on... More
