Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We mostly stopped here because there's a banana bread place nearby, but it was closed! We were so bummed, but came down to check out the water and scenery. It's pretty, but not a must see on the Road to Hana. You can walk around on rocks right by the water, makes for some good pictures.

We missed this stop on our way to Hana but managed to stop by on our way back. it was a worthwhile stop; you can see strong waves banging against the rocky shores in several places. The waves were strong and powerful and there were not many people around. a nice little stop on the way to or back from Hana.

This spot would be a 5 star rating in most other places of the world, but I'm trying to keep this review relative to Maui. It's the first truly 'can't miss' stop on the Road to Hana. It's a quick and easy detour off the highway. The incredible lava rock, scenery, and powerful waves are your first opportunity to see what the Eastern/Southeastern side of the island has to offer. It's certainly impressive to first-timers. This location has ample free parking, bathrooms, and plenty of open spaces. Be sure to check out the church and the interesting story behind it.

Near mile marker #16 on Hana Road. Take the road on the left that leads to the village of Keanae.
The road is a little rough but at the end you are rewarded by a wonderful landscape of black lava rocks facing the ocean.
This is a really nice place to take some pictures.
It is a must-see along the Road to Hana.

This was a stop on a road to Hana tour but it was nice. There are bathrooms. The old church is very quaint but the lava formations and the waves coming off them is really stunning. We enjoyed this stop.

If you're driving to hana...make this stop. Without a doubt, make it. The first time I took the trip to hana, I found this gem. I remember just being blown away as I drove down this road and saw the waves crashing over the rocks. Every time I go back I make this stop. I took my fiance to Hawaii last yr, and she was tired after driving all day and was thinking about turning around. I made her hit this stop on the road... I wouldn't let her leave hawaii without seeing this magical spot. She was miserable that I made her go...until we hit the road to keanae and we were driving down... she was climbing over the center console oooh, ahhhh, omg it's amazing! It's soooo beautiful! We've been together for almost 4 yrs and I look back at that moment and still smile rembering her reaction. This place is so beautiful I told her when I die, I want my ashes spread over the lava rocks here at keanae pt

Lovely place to enjoy the natural beauty of Hawaii and the sea. This is also where we turned around on our "Road to Hana" trip. I would suggest to everyone who is planning on going to Hana, to use this as the turn-around point. There is no point in going further.

At Ke’anae Point you can see, hear and feel the shear power and of the ocean. It was amazing watching the waves break on the shores. You can also visit a 160 year old church. Well worth the stop.

Just off the Hana Road, and near a cute hidden hot dog joint, is a stunning vista of the Pacific, waves, lava rock and beauty. It's rustic, as it should be, quiet and not often populated. Take lunch, sit and look at true Hawaii.
