Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The coastline along the southeast corner of Oahu is spectacular and the Lanai Lookout provides a handy parking lot to pull off the road and to take in the views. However, maybe it was the weather, but I didn't find this spot overly special and certainly not as interesting as the Halona Blowhole just up the road or the Makapu'u Lookout Point further along. I certainly could not see Lanai in the distance the day I stopped. Giving it a 3 is rather harsh of me as nothing in Hawaii is "average" looking but this is based on comparisons to other nearby viewpoints.

While driving around Oahu last week, we stopped at Lanai Lookout to enjoy the scenery. It was quite beautiful, the seas were a marvelous color, the sound of the surf and the crashing of the waves was impressive. However, as we were enjoying the scenery, standing just in front of our car, someone in the parking lot opened one of the doors and made off with one of our bags. As it happened, this bag contained my wife's wallet, and our family's passports.
As this happened on a Friday afternoon, we could not replace our passports until Monday, and book another flight for a few days afterwork. The loss of nearly a week of work, plus the expense of extending our holiday added up to several thousand dollars.
When you drive from Kailua toward Honolulu along the coast, you will notice large camps of homeless people. There are large shelters made up of tarps, old cars, and whatever else they can find, and quite a few of these people have taken to stealing from tourists whenever they have a chance.
We found a Facebook page about Honolulu thefts, and it receives some 900 posts per week, if that gives you any idea how bad the problem of theft in Oahu is. If you are traveling, keep anything important in a very safe place.

This place has limited parking but people don't stay long so if it is full just wait a couple of minutes and you will get a spot.
The rock formations are really interesting and everybody jumps the wall to have a better look at it.
It is worth a stop.

Stopped there today and was amazed that there were at least 3 dozen Asian tourists (including several small children) that were hopping the short wall past the Danger sign and were standing near the edge of drop offs, down by the waterline, and other areas.
There’s a reason why the signs are there.

Only worth the stop if you’re willing and able to hop over the short wall. If you do, you will be able to enjoy amazing views of the rock formations and the ocean. Fantastic photo opportunities! Gorgeous location.

We (lovely wife, two boys-16/18, me) came in July. We had time between attractions on the windward side so we made our way here.
The parking was limited, but people move in and out quickly so be patient. The views were beautiful. You could spend fifteen minutes here or an hour. It's well worth your stop. Recommended.

Spectacular and beautiful if you visit on a sunny day. We were so thankful for cooperative weather. This part of the coast is breathtaking to drive and enjoy.

A popular place to stop to view coast and cove 'From Here to Eternity'. The blowhole was working hard to impress as well.
