We’ve been to the North Shore several times but have not done Chinamans hat before. It was just after high tide but we are still able to walk out, we did take paddle boards which was great because we could lean on them and swim...More

It was fun to visit the Kauloa Park and look across to see the island that does indeed look like a Chinaman's hat. The park is nice as it has good clean facilities and lots of parking. Didn't get out to the island but saw...More

An island about a mile off shore that looks just like the picture. Guess you could canoe out to it if the sea was fairly calm, but don't know if anything is on the island. Is fun to see, but you don't need to stop...More

The beach at Kauloa Park has restrooms and showers. You have amazing views of the island and a fun spot for photos. I was told during low tide you can walk almost all the way across to the island, I was not there at low...More

While I will say, out of 3 attempts, my 2nd one was the only successful one... I studied the time of days, surf, tides and currents before heading out, to ensure I wasn't at the highest level of risk (as I was swimming alone). Along...More

Great kayak out to the island, especially for those of us who were inexperienced. We attempted to climb to the top of the island but it was very steep and only half of us made it (thongs do not make good climbing footwear!). Great views!

The drive from the east to north shore is scenic and china man's hat does not disappoint as a backdrop for your selfies. It is too far to swim to but makes for a great picture while you drive up to Sunset beach in the...More

I went to Chinaman's Hat with some friends who were all feeling quite as adventurous as I was, and we can all tell you that everything we did in and around Mokoli'i (Chinaman's Hat) was abolutely fun and exciting. We rented out kayaks from Kailua...More

My husband checked off an item on his bucket list. Kayaking across to Chinaman's Hat is beautiful and standing at the top makes you feel like the King/Queen of your own island. Beautiful Views!

Easily seen from the highway and there is Avery nice park attached. Plenty of free parking. Sunny day is best for pictures but always nice to take in great scenery. The mountains across the highway are neat too. Definitely worth a stop. It’s free!

We did it on our own. Definitely don’t need a tour group. I rented kayaks through a website called rent a boat. It was super easy. They met us there with the kayaks so we didn’t have to drive with them or anything. We had... More
