For years I've dreamt of visiting the famed Casbah in Algiers following the movie "Battle of Algiers". I approached the idea with a mixture of trepidation and intrigue, imagining a labyrinth full of suspicious locals waiting to lure you into a back alley in order...More

I found the Kasbah in Algiers rather dirty and not especially well preserved. Of course it's worth seeing, but it's disappointing how poorly maintained it is (compared for example with Tunis Medina).

We spent a lovely afternoon strolling around the kasbah's whitewashed buildings and through its steep winding streets. We really enjoyed learning about the history of the area while admiring the architecture. I would recommend getting a guide as it is quite easy to get lost...More

Guide Ahcicene (who is actually the owner) and driver Muhammed were excellent. Long day tour, via car and on foot, into museums, Botanical Garden, the Casbah on foot, elsewhere. Ahcicene is extremely knowledgeable about all things Algerian. Excellent English.

The parts of the Casbah open to the public are very interesting and any decent guide will lead you to a cafe and woodwork shop which both command great views down to the sea. A large area is sadly unsound building wise and so take...More

Visited the Kasbah for almost 3hrs with Boualem (his email = boubastion23@yahoo.com). He was recommended and I completely agree: fluent in English, polite, knowledgeable, not too serious and always ready to smile and laugh with you. The kasbah might not be the most beautiful I...More

My guide was Omar. Great guy. Phone or WhatsApp or Viber ‭00213 5 42840682‬ He’s pretty good at answering pretty quickly. The weekend has just started there though. I really enjoyed Algeria, hope you do too.
