- Chelsea DDallas, Texas238 contributionsSmaller, but very decorated madrasa in the medinaOur local guide Hassan brought us here as part of exploring the famous Fes medina on a Wednesday in March 2022. The entry fee was US $2 (20 DH) and it was fairly empty, which was great for wandering. We went upstairs to the old student cells and enjoyed finding all the different doorway and window shapes and sizes. As everywhere in Fes, the tile work was exquisite. There was a lot of Arabic scrollwork in the main entryway, as befitting an Islamic school. We spent less than an hour here.Visited March 2022Travelled with friendsWritten 20 January 2023
- bigboy614551,214 contributionsMust visit in FesInside the Medina, we went to Al Attarine Madrasa, and amazing architecture as this is the first building we visited not counting the ruins and museums previous day. They use a special technique to make arches with great details called “stucco muqarnas”. Apparently, they use egg yolk in molding and thus allowing more time to finish up intricate details before it is set. It is one of the oldest religious school where kids from different places come here to study. Lots of history with amazing architecture.Visited April 2022Written 6 March 2023
- JackOld Bethpage, New York770 contributionsAmazing! The Al-Attarine Medersa is stunning! The designs along the walls are so intricate and the attention to detail is incredible! Also, there are two levels a part from the main entrance that have good view of the Fes Medina. I highly recommend!Visited August 2023Travelled with familyWritten 19 November 2023

This place was recently renovated, and it's stunning. Not huge, but just a beautiful example of 14th century Moroccan architecture. Still in use today. Well worth a short visit.

Excellent place to visit. Incredible architecture. Great views from the windows below to the streets and rooftops.
Entry fee of 20 dirham was so worth it.

A great example of 14th century Moorish architecture. It was the former Koranic school's dormitory since it is attached to the Kairaouine Mosque next door.

This is by far the most beautiful medersa in Morocco. It's not very big but the architecture is stunning. The entrance fee is only 20 Durham.

I paid 20 DH for solo admittance to this attraction (£0.16) + it was well worth the fee. You are able to also go upstairs a few levels in the madrasa + explore. I loved looking out the windows to see the hustle + bustle of the medina below. Definitely the most beautiful structure that I saw in Fes while I was there for my 3 night stay.

Hola!
