Convinced I paid too much

I bought a 6 X 9 handmade wool carpet. It was for 18,000 dirhams and I paid 14,500. I still can’t help feeling I overpaid! I should have started the bargaining process by... read more

I bought a 6 X 9 handmade wool carpet. It was for 18,000 dirhams and I paid 14,500. I still can’t help feeling I overpaid! I should have started the bargaining process by telling them I was willing to pay for it with 5,000 dirhams! I think I would have paid much less that way. Bargain hard I would say….... More

his carpet cooperative was so/so. The salesmen were a bit shady in hindsight compared to our experiences in the souk. I wish I could buy into the idea of the cooperative, but I just can’t.

We were brought to Aux Merveilles by our guide, and figured this was a good place to practice haggling. The salesmen was nice, but the... More

You accept that the main aim of the explanation about how the carpets are made are a sales pitch, but what quality of Berber and Moroccan carpets. For the adventurous a 70 step climb to the roof gives you panoramic views of the Medina: unrivalled for your average tourist.

I bought a carpet here - as I'm not inclined to impulse shopping I was so happy when I saw this lovely circular rug! I had been looking for something for many years and just couldn't find the right size, colors and price. But I found it here! The price was negotiable and they packed it up so that I... More

A beautiful shop with lots of knowledgeable staff. Sales pressure, sure, it IS in Morocco, but the kind that's tolerable. We bought a beautiful hand-knotted wool pile rug bearing their "superior" rating tag and we love it. Impossible to find anything about prices, so I'll share mine: The carpet is about 4-foot by 7.5 foot, rich blue the main color,... More

The staff does want to make a sale but the quality, selection, styles available and the diversity of colors are quite something. Good experience.

We stopped here in October 2016. My sister and I both purchased rugs after looking at several -- with very patient salesmen. They explained the different types of rugs and their history. Purchase was done easily with a credit card. We were given tips about care and wear. My rug arrived within a week, along with a description of the... More

We got an incredibly beautiful, unique handmade rug (we did not see one like it anywhere in Morocco - I suspect if you see a rug similar to the ones sold here - the quality is different). The sales experience was fun, we could have negotiated harder but time was dear and we wanted to continue our vacation (and driving... More

It was the first carpet store we visited in Morocco, but we thought the price was too high and didn't buy a thing. After we visited Other cities we couldn't fine rugs as nice as this one. And we felt regretful we didn't buy one there.
