About
The world-renowned cooking workshops at La Maison Arabe are open to hotel guests and those staying elsewhere in Marrakech. At the half-day classes, one learns the secrets of Moroccan cuisine, considered the most refined on the African continent. The workshops are run by a dada (traditional Moroccan chef), a translator (French/English), and include a visit to a nearby spice market and communal bread oven. After the workshop, during which every participant has worked alongside the dada at his or her own workstation, one dines on the delicious meal that's been prepared. The cooking workshops at La Maison Arabe have been praised by the leading international travel and food press, including The New York Times Sunday Travel Section, Travel + Leisure, Condé Nast Traveler, Saveurs, and Virtuoso Life.

    A Must Do
The set up for the cooking class was rather nice. Each student had ample space and all the tools necessary to make a delicious meal. The staff was attentive, helpful and pleasant. Most of the ingredients were prepared which made the class flow easily. Please keep in mind that this is not an intensive dive into the rich culinary heritage and cuisine of Morocco but it will leave you with a good foundation and motivation to cook. Not to mention a few tasty recipes!

A must do activity when in Marrakesh
I booked myself on a morning session of the cookery class through La Maison Árabe reception (we are staying as guests). The class is held either in the wing adjoins the hotel or at it’s country club a short drive by minibus. The session started with an explanation and demonstration and glass of Moroccan tea. Wafa then showed us all the spices used in Moroccan cuisine. We had chance to sniff the more fragrant ones. Then came the practical part where we were shown to the cooking stations and demonstration area. There we met Habiba the wonderful dada who was to lead the cooking demonstration. A batch of bread dough was made and we were invited to have a go at kneading and shaping the dough into the traditional flat shapes. Each workstation has access to a large screen so you see exactly what is going on in the demo. We went through each recipe step by step and made a chicken tagine and two cooked salads each. At the end of the session we all sat around the dining table whilst the waiting staff served us each with our own dishes. What an amazing experience! Many thanks to Wafa, Habiba and ALL THE BACKROOM STAFF who work so hard to make this a most enjoyable time. I highly recommend this course!

    Delicious & Fun Experience
We did a private cooking class at La Maison Arabe and it was fantastic! I've done many cooking classes around the world and this was one of the nicest set-ups i've ever seen. We started the day with an introduction to Moroccan spices and a traditional tea. When then moved into the kitchen, where we each had our own set up. It was the perfect balance of "learning" and "doing." The meal was delicious and we all had so much fun!!

Great cooking course and lots of fun
This was one of the highlights of our Marrakesh trip. We had a fantastic time cooking with expert chefs, Hasna and Fatiha. The staff are great and really make you feel welcome. There are quite a few laughs before you move upstairs into the kitchens. I joined my wife on this course, and although I’m not a cook, the chefs offered lots of encouragement and of course you get to eat what you cook at the end. Overall a great experience.

Perfect introduction to Moroccan cuisine and culture!
This was our first activity in Marrakech, and it was the perfect way to start our trip! The cooking class building is a 2-minute stroll from the hotel itself, and the facilities are beautiful. We were welcomed and introduced to Moroccan cuisine with a tea ceremony and sampling of the various herbs and spices used in the dishes. We moved to the kitchen, where everyone's work station was already prepped with ingredients and a video screen so we could all watch the chef in her expert demonstration. We made incredible food and we each received our own tagine to take home! We bonded with other travelers but the real stars were the chef and helpers, who were gracious and so helpful. We then sat down to a delicious meal that we cooked ourselves!

Moroccan Cooking Instruction -- worth it!
Tremendously positive unforgettable experience. We scheduled this on the recommendation of our tour company (Classic Journey's) and it did not disappoint. Our goal was to fill time before our late-night flight out of Marrakech and it turned into one of the memories I will forever remember. Mohammed provided excellent direction to cook three dishes. Afterwards we ate what we cooked and it definitely qualified as superb thanks to his direction. We also did the wine pairing with our lunch -- well worth it. EXCELLENT wine and well matched to the dishes.

    Best cooking class ever
We have taken cooking classes on many of our international travels. This class, exceeded all. Fatima was a master teacher . She uses intellect , humor and song to bring together a beautiful experience. The kitchen is a work of art. So precise. Only the finest products used there was a beautiful lunch were we shared our prepared meals. Words don’t describe this experience. It’s fabulous and Fatima and Hamid exceed at every level. We will recommend to any one fortunate to go to Morocco.

    Amazing, unique experience
Excellent staff, especially our host Wafa, modern, oriental, nice and clean kitchen. We had a small group of four people, so it felt like a private course. Great value for money, it is definitely worth it. When we come to Marrakech next time, we will book another course here. Best choice in Marrakech. Emina and Martin

    Absolutely superb
What an amazing experience we had on the half day cooking workshop. Wafa was a complete delight, knowledgeable, interesting, kind and engaging. My husband has never cooked and even he was encouraged to prepare a superb tagine, and two side dishes, they even tweaked the menu because my husband and daughter do not eat tomatoes. We were lucky enough to be the only people on the workshop and so it felt like cooking at a friend's house. It is incredibly professional, a superb set up where you can see everything that Wafa and her superb chef Habida (I am so sorry if I got her name wrong) were doing, their kindness and obvious love of what they do was amazing. If you are in Marrakech this is a must do experience, you will not be disappointed.

An afternoon of learning, fun, introspection and warmth.
What a great idea it was to pick the cooking class at La Masion Arabe to spend an afternoon on our trip to Marrakech. After reading about quite a few options, I finally selected La Maison. I made a phone call to them prior to our travel and at that point I decided that I had made the right choice. Hakim on the phone explained the details so well and soon I got an email confirmation by Mostafa. We selected the afternoon class as we wanted to stay indoors to avoid the heat. It was an airconditioned envoirnment which was a blessing. Whilst we were welcomed and led to the beautiful courtyard lounge, offered tea and drinks, we saw a group of four from the morning session enjoying a meal they had made. Soon Wafa, our lovely expert tutor met us and from there onwards, it was an afternoon of our shared love for food, culture, history and so much more. Wafa is so knowledgable, kind and has a way of explaining things that is amazing. We chatted about history, culture, food habits, ethical and traditional practices and so much more. Being Indo-Persian, I throughly enjoyed her session on spices and my mum loved the tea ceremony. As someone who hardly drink green tea, she was pleasantly surprised by the flavoursome green tea that was served by Saeed? Sorry if I got the name wrong. Next was a trip to the first floor cooking class - a beautiful professional kitchen with Moroccan interior design accents. There were screens/monitors placed at every workstation. The entire place was very clean and hygiene seemed clearly a priority. We were greeted by Sana and Eman?? who along with Wafa took us through a culinary journey that we will remember for a long time. The methods employed were simple, easy to follow and the atmosphere warm, friendly yet very professional.  Since mum and I were the only two participants that afternoon, it felt like a private lesson (although they have that facility too in a smaller kitchen next doors). We were shown how Moroccan bread is made. Since we were only two, we were lucky and had a chance to knead the dough and help make the dessert which in generally a demo. We then worked at your own workstation alongside the tutors to prepare a delicious Moroccan meal including salads and, main course which was a chicken tagine. The afternoon ended by us enjoying the meal we prepared and recieving certificates. I am so tempted to take their other class, which is on Moroccan Jewish cuisine on my next trip to Marrakech. From the begining to the end, Wafa and the team made sure that the experience was fun, exciting and yet helps us learn quite a bit on Moroccan cooking. And in my opinion they succeeded. Bravo!

We really enjoyed the cooking class. A trip to celebrate a big birthday. Brother and sister make the kitchen of Maison Arabe unsafe ;-)

We absolutely loved the cooking workshop at La Maison Arabe. The people were super friendly and explained everything about the Moroccan cuisine. Would for sure visit again for a different dish! Afterwards we sat down with our group to have the dinner we cooked ourselves. We even got a tagine to take home with us! Amazing experience.

A fabulous way to spend a morning (or afternoon) in Marrakesh on a 3 hour cookery course. It was fun, not too challenging and both Mohammed and Fatima made the time fly past with information, stories and anecdotes on Moroccan life, cooking, spices and bread-making demonstrations. This is a superbly well organised class, with great facilities. Highly recommend.

Don't skip this! Definitely worth it. Such a fun time! You get to cook your entire meal with salad and a side. Plan to spend about 3 - 4 hours. You will be standing all of this time so wear comfortable shoes and clothes you don't mind getting dirty in case you are clumsy like me.

Wafa, Fatiha and Fatima provide a fantastic cookery course. The modern facilities are superb with each cooking station having a tv screen so you can easily see what is being done by the chef at the front of the kitchen. We learnt a lot about Moroccan food and came away with great memories and great recipes to try at home. At the end of the morning you get to enjoy what you have created having lunch with the rest of the group. The session also had lots of fun and laughter in a very enjoyable 3 hours, including some great singing from Fatiha.

Wafa and the rest of the chefs did a wonderful job getting us thru three meal preps along with many others in their multi-stationed kitchen.
The chicken tajine (I may be biased) was the best we've had throughout our two week adventure in Morocco.

One of the best experiences during our entire trip! The instructors are engaging and make everything super easy. They also have TVs set up at each station so you can see what the instructor is doing - I’ve never seen this done in a cooking class before - so smart!

The food came out great! Highly recommend!

Such a special and amazing experience. We learned so much about Moroccan culture, spices, and cuisine - and the food was delicious! The team was deeply knowledgeable and couldn't have been more pleasant to be with. We have already recommended it to multiple people.

This one of the best cooking classes our family has ever done! Loved the concept of each having your own station so that everyone got to make each dish for themselves. The instruction was terrific. We had our class at the country club which was just beautiful. The inside kitchen was spotless, spacious and gorgeous. The outside area where we enjoyed our meal was so so nice. Our chefs were so nice and fun. The meal was outstanding. Highly Highly Recommend!!

Highly recommend the cookery workshop (3hrs) : not only is it great fun but it's not just about the food - you also learn about morrocan culture and traditions. The workshop is really well organised - the kitchens are very well equipped and being taught tips by a Dada was wonderful. We learnt how to make Moroccan bread, 2 salads and a tajine and had a demonstration of how to make Milk Pastilla. The food was absolutely delicious (even though I'd cooked it!!) and it was a great way to spend half a day. The instructors are just superb and really friendly. Great value for money. Book it - you won't be disappointed!
