Just take my advice and skip it! Nothing to see but an underground space with high ceilings. Wish I had read about this before so we hadn’t wasted time!

It's all underground, so it's more of a dungeon. Very large, lighted rooms under an open plaza. Built in the 18th century, it is a labyrinth of rooms and passages that once held the sultan's prisoners.

For the end of 2018 we (Dutch family of 4, kids 14 and 18) chose to visit Morocco. Fly to Fez and hire a car to drive our way via Meknes and Ouzoud to Marrakech. On our first random walk through the city, we came...More

The ticket is 60 Dihram for foreigners now. Not 10. If you know the history it is worth the visit. Otherwise it is just another place to rip off the tourist. I am hugely disappointed with how greedy the staff here become. What a Shame...More

Just like with the staples, not much to see and horrendously expensive. 50 MAD for non Moroccans, compared to 10 MAD for locals. Appart from the discrimination, we go in without tickets, and saw loads of locals even not paying at all.

With over a hundred TripAdvisor reviews of Prison de Kara, the place must have made an impression on tourists and others. It did for my family (my wife and grown daughter): a gigantic walled-in room and yet underground, like the very opposite of a palatial...More

There really was not much to see. An empty dark underground place with no information boards or anything for tourists. The ticket was expensive.

Tickets (60MAD) are purchased at the Koubba el Khayatine (Ambassadors' Hall), which opens at 10 a.m. A simple pavillion where ambassadors met to bargain over the ransoms demanded for victims of Barbary Coast piracy. The entrance to the prison is a staircase located adjacent to...More

We saw the prison as part of an all-day touring of the Fez Medina area, so it was not our specific agenda item for us. So, as part of the overall package, it was a very interesting place to visit. The underground area is huge...More
