Small white sandy beach
We were a party if ten. Arrived from the mainland. The very small beach and clear water was affected by the low tide, so be prepared to see dead coral before 10:30.

After 10:30, for us, the waster covered over the unpleasant see bed parts.

Costs: 20$ per person, was needed to be paid before we could jump off the boat. The hone made beach chairs and parasols cost ca. 5000 shillings each.

Food was very basic but grilled fish and lobsters was amazing. Chips and beer also.

Very relaxing. Tried snorkeling out from the beach but only found seaa grass, absolutely no coral.

With the good comes the bad, there was no cleaning of the beach that I saw, plastic bottles, toothbrushes and even toothpaste was common on the far side of the stretch of beach.

Good to get away from the mainland.
Happy to go but not again

The place is less crowded than mbudya island and has a smaller beach. You can go through Slipway, Masaki witha boat.

It was a dream come true for us, this is one of our historical land in Tanzania. It was a great experience to be here. Sunny beach, local food was delicious. Honestly we had the best time in Bagamoyo..... We love to be back soon

I enjoyed visiting the historic sites and the tour guides were very knowledgeable about it. they only need to improve their timing.

We went island hopping and snorkelling with another family in our boat. The small section of sandy beach at the island was full with boats who threw out their anchor right where they do the damage to the seafloor. Even before stopping the boat we were approached by a small boat to pay our tickets for the half day wer intended to stay there. The young man had no change, obviously expecting me to let him keep the change. I didn't.
Snorkeling was as eventful as snorkelling in an olympic pool, except the sea water was not as clear as a pool would be: barely any fish, the reef badly damaged, the few remaining corals bleached and broken. Good we visited, even if it was to know it's not worth the trip.

We went for a day trip here. Having had a fresh Red Snapper for luch at Mbudya we did not have lunch here.

Bongoyo is a beautiful island and the water is very clean except for a very small stretch that appeared to have sea-weed.

The island is small compared to Mbudya. I personally prefer eating at Mbudya because the shelters (under where lunch is eaten) face the ocean. The restaurant at Bongoyo is good but one needs to climb a short flight of stairs to a restaurant.

The island is small and I wonder have they accommodate extra people when all the beds are taken, Probably there is a system where they make an announcement that the island is full of visitors.

The pristine beach, the clear water and the opportunity to take some very scenic camera shots with sun, sand and sky plus some dhows or sailing boats in the background certainly makes this island a well worth visit.

It is only a few kilometers from Dar es Salaam city and even shorter if a boat ride is taken from the Kunduchi area where the White Sands and Ramada Hotel are located. We preferred going out in low tide because snorkeling in Mbudya (with a guide) was easy. The same would apply to Bongo.

If eating at Bongoyo, ask for the Red Snapper. Very delicious fish.

Not much else to do but sunbath on this stretch of sandy beach - the boat ride was interesting - wear shorts or trousers for getting in and out! Great seafood at the restaurant.

Amazing place not so far from Der Es Sallam. There you can find a small restaurant and amazing beach. I strongly recommend to go on the island tour (by on your own way)

Bongoyo is a great place to spend a beach day away from Dar. It's similar to Mbudya but a little smaller and the restaurant more formal. (but not) I think it's mostly seafood. You can take a boat from Slipway or White Sands area to the island. You pay the costs of the marine fees plus transportation. A nice day with friends.

Well everyone has different type of view and their own likes but I wasn't really impressed with the Island..it was hot..one side of the Island was dirty with full of bottles and trashy materials..I rather advise you to visit Mbudya Island..its smaller than Bongoyo but beautiful beach and clean island.
