Copycat artworks and crafts that you can find in any tourist trap in Tanzania. Same paintings, same crafts, not worth travelling to. Despite other reviewers here, I was hassled by the sellers -making it difficult to actually look at any of the objects for sale...More

We had heard about this artist location and we visited it with a guide. You can meet the artists or simply look at all of the unique paintings. You’ll see these paintings in other places in Tanzania including Zanzibar. Here, you have a chance to...More

I have spent a whole week in the Tinga Tinga area and would walk past the art galleries every day which gave me an opportunity to explore each shop. I noticed that all pieces look exactly the same especially the Maasai artworks. It's more of...More

Unlike pretty much everywhere else in Dar, I didn't get hassled here. The prices were VERY fair - much more reasonable than other road side places or markets, and the range of art work is vast. This is THE place to come for Tinga Tinga...More

We visited Tinga Tinga as part of a city tour of Dar Es Salaarm. The art work was lovely to look at and also to watch the various artists at work. There was not much more to see in this area.

It's great to see local artists painting their pieces, and being completely happy to talk, to be photographed, and to explain what they're doing. There's a wide range of Tingatinga art works for sale, typically for up to $50 - and they were happy to...More

We strolled along a row of art/painting shops which is located at a place called Tinga Tinga Arts Co-Operative Society. Once inside the building, the entire room is displayed with paintworks, glassware/pottery, carved wood objects & few textiles pieces too. . It was interesting to...More

The best part about this place is you can see the artisans in action. We saw how they carved beautiful products out of tree logs - all by hand sitting at the back of the coop.
