Amazing Day Out
Dec 2019 • Family
Beautiful Museum, very well organised, if you book in advance you can request a guide tour.
We were lucky to get this service without booking, one of the Sargent kindly showed us around.

A piece of the history of Angola
Nov 2018
If you are traveling to Luanda it is mandatory to visit this spot. For several years was left abandoned, but it was refurbished and looks amazing. The view over the city of Luanda is unique and the permanent exibitions are worthy to be visited. Now and then, at this location, there are some good art and music events.

Beautiful & Full of History
Sep 2018
This is a nice place to visit, rich in history. The "Fortaleza" was once a Portuguese fortress built in 1634 to defend the access to Luanda (old capital name was São Paulo da Assunção de Loanda). It has a prominent view of the bay, and surrounding area. It is a must see if you visit Luanda.

Would be better with a guide
Jul 2019 • Solo
So the positives on this site: the views of Luanda are stunning. You get to see the bay and the rest of Luanda really well. The fort is in the old star formation so it’s a great find for military enthusiasts.

The negatives: I would have appreciated a tour to understand what I was looking at in the displays. The displays jumped from native Angolan to Portuguese quickly without any context.

Is it worth visiting? Yep. Is it worth prescheduling a guide? Absolutely

Guard
Jul 2019 • Couples
Guarding the bay is this fort. Guarding this spectacular view are guards who were toting automatics. But, they looked friendly. Did not speak to them though. Nice views

Fortaleza at night
May 2019 • Business
We visited the Fort after our evening meal at Naquele Lugar. The monument is well lit and offers nice views on Luanda at night. Around the fort one will see old aeroplanes, tanks etc. Recently the old stone walls of the fort have been plastered and painted which is a pity really. Anyway it is worth the visit

Rich in history
Apr 2019 • Business
I really enjoyed visiting this museum. I am an avid follower of history and this was very enlightening for me. It was also great to see a number of school groups during my visit where the guides take the kids through their country's history. For anyone interested in history this is an interesting museum.

Fortaleza de Sao Miguel
Apr 2019 • Solo
Originally built in 1576, the fort is still extremely well maintained and houses military history from many centuries. The main building interior houses beautiful tiles highlighting the history and flora and fauna of the area. Top ramparts provide an amazing view of the bay and area.
