Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Amazing hands-on pottery experience, highly recommend for a small group activity and it's great for kids. Martin gave us a tour of his workshop and an overview of the pottery process, then we all had a turn at the wheel making our own chosen pieces. Martin is a great teacher, funny, we had a good laugh and all had beautiful pieces to show off at the end. It's an easy 25 minutes from Gabs, requires advanced booking if you want to make your own pots. Also highly recommend for shopping, lots of unique pottery designs in store.

The pottery is beautiful. The staff person was very courteous and gave us a tour and educated us on their process for making the pottery. The only drawback was that the items I purchased were not wrapped for traveling (wrapped in newspaper versus bubble wrap). Two out of three items broke during my air travels back to America.

I spent an afternoon in this shop and I highly recommend going. Martin is great and I bought a lot of beautiful pottery. Once I returned home, I contacted him because I wanted to see about his new items and he sent a few things to me via DHL. Very responsive on Facebook and I think there is a new website for the shop now. Everything was packaged great and nothing was broken during shipping.

We had such a fun morning at Gabane pottery with Martin. He taught us the basics in pottery and is the most encouraging teacher. I also wanted to buy half the shop. So many beautiful things for sale.

Gabane Pottery is located in an artistic village about 30 min outside of Gabs. Highly recommend taking a class (8$ per person per hour) with Martin, the owner. Great guy, we got to keep our pottery pieces, and I wanted to buy out his entire store. The pieces he makes are also extremely affordable (glazed bowl for 4USD, hut candle holder 6 USD). You may be able to couple with a visit to Mountain Rest (supposed to be great for Sunday afternoon braai). To take a class, just call Martin and arrange a time.

We went out expecting a craft centre with a lot of different crafts but the pottery is all that's really there now. However, it was a wonderful visit and worth the trip for that alone. We didn't do a pottery class and arrived after most of the staff had left for the day. Martin was still there and gave us a lot of time. We had a tour round and he even threw a bowl for us. It was a really lovely insight into a local industry and fascinating to learn about where the clay came from (termite mounds!) and the origins of the decoration patterns. There was no pressure to buy from the shop area but the variety of what is produced, the quality and the price meant that we didn't leave empty-handed. I really hope people will be encourage to visit either to just see the place or take a class to support this local business. It's quite easy to get to from Gabarone but once you get to Gabane you might need to ask for directions down the dirt road leading to Pelegrano.
