Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Nice place downtown Praia, cleaned and green! Impossible to miss, as all the roads are passing near by.

This is a small but neat little venue to sit Down and relax. Here you can listen to local music, watch People enjoying the simple life or stroll around the corner to visit the town hall, the presidents place or the beautyful views Down on the harbour and the lighthouse.

However i don't recommend going there alone as a woman because all of a sudden every men around will try to Hit on you or worse ask for Money.

In the heart of the plateau and old town this pleasant little square is a peaceful place to sit in and wander around. There are plenty of benches and a small café with some outside seating. There are areas of cacti, trees and bushes, a statue and a fountain.

Pity the fountain isn't operating, but then water's at a premium. (Which kind of makes what I assume are the shallow water ditches running round the outside - which are easy to lose your footing in if you're not careful! - pretty pointless.) Some nice seating and landscaping, and pretty buildings around. Popular among locals. Expect to find people selling stuff and kids playing an impromptu game of football.

A stroll around the square is a must to see the locals go by, superb plantations and surrounded by colonial houses. People watching at its best. There is a small cafe in the middle if the square as well.

It's the main square of the Plateau, surrounded by the most important buildings.
Interesting to visit and discover the history of Cape Verde.

I congratulate those who posted the photos for making the square look bigger and more interesting than it is. It's scacely the size of a footballl pitch and the statue is tiny, albeit historic. The restaurant is an Oasis in the desert that is Praia, and provided us with something to do after 7pm which is not easy to find in Praia. The staff were wonderful I think they shared our pain.

Everybody visiting the Platô, the most historical and interesting part of Praia will also pass by the city's biggest square, the Praça Alexandre Albuquerque. The place is surrounded by some of the cities most important buildings. At the southern end of the square is the bust of the name-giver, former governor of the Cape Verde's (end of the 19th century): Alexandre Albuquerque.

At the northern end of this Praça starts the Avenida 5 de Julho, the pedestrianised 'Rua Pedonal' and definitely the most interesting street of the 'Platô'.
