National Museum of Chad
Feb 2020
A small and well-run museum of ethnography, palaeontology and the natural history of Chad. The prime exhibit is the Toumai skull of the earliest clear hominid ancestor of Homo sapiens - 7 million years old (the last Common ancestor of Man and Chimpanzee).

I am not too sure what to advise here, as I am not a huge fan of African museums. The displays and the overall set-up is a bit tacky I found.

Visit if in N’Djaména

If you are in Chad, assume you are already an adventurous person so you should stop here as it only takes a short time to see everything

We went when it was really supposed to be closed but they let us in anyway and followed us everywhere! So check times before going.

Nice simple collection of baskets and old money and they have the story about the skull of the oldest human ever found in Chad which we found remarkable!

Upon entering we paid the fee and expected change but no one offered to give us our change!

Great place to spend a couple of hours and getting a quick view of what Chad has to offer: artifacts and pictures from North, South and Center. I would had appreciate a bit more of info from the Tibesti

very good museum, if you understand French. two floors full of information, history and data, Entry for foreigners: 300 CFA. Few things to see in N'Djamena, so the museum is a must. Recommended.

Out of town took a moto bike taxi, but I saw the Hotel Ledger nearby. New building. Work in progress.
I enjoyed my visit, I liked what was on display. The only issue was that i was expected to leave my bag on a open shelf behind the counter. we had a bit of a standoff about that. i was allowed in with my bag, but they sent a minder to follow me. 3000 cfa entrance fee.

The staff were excellent and very enthusiastic, however the museum itself does not have much to see (exception being toumi and the oldest humanoid skull ever recovered).

Come if you're into archeology but not much else..... can't fault the staff though, very hospitable and knowledgeable.
