Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

it appears to be closed, falling into major disrepair. There's a large fence around it, and you can't approach the structure. From the road, it looks like it's completely gutted

The cathedral is totally closed down as a construction site. You can not even walk around the building. No workers or activity so it seems it will be like this for a long time.

It is being renovated (it appears) in 2015 and now 2017, not much done to the Catheral in 2 two years. There's a large fence around it, and you can't approach the structure. From the street, it looks like it's completely gutted

Renovations having been completed, the cathedral is an amazing place to visit whilst visiting Chad. Great location and rich in history.

and not to be finished any time soon it seems, as the President don't want to have huge crowds of people so near his Palace.

I first went to Ndjamena In fall 2013. The cathedral was then being renovated. That stopped shortly thereafter and it is just sitting there now. Nothing has been done for over three years and it is not accessible.

The Catholic Cathedral in N'Djamena was built back in 1965, 5 years after Chad gained independence. In 1980, as a result of the civil war, it was destroyed. Rebuilt in 1983-1986.
