Futurism

Extravagant structure in the form of airplane. Built in the late 30's of the XXth century this is the best example of italian futuristic architecture in Asmara.

essential, a perfect example of the Italian colonial era that left the streets and neighborhoods of Asmara full of beautiful buildings, palaces, theaters, restaurants and hotels

A walk round Asmara is partly a stroll through an elegant colonial past with some quite exceptional buildings.

Well, this is not really an attraction in the usual sense as one just passes it on the street - but it is probably one of the most outstanding unique and somehow out of place where it is piece of art deco architecture I have ever seen.

interesting place to look at, but unfortunately rather poorly maintained and surrounded by fencing so was difficult to get much of an impression

If you like Art Deco , Asmara is your place to go. Fiat Tagliero is one of the best preserved examples.

This remains an amazing structure from the Italian colonial era. It is a must-see for anyone visiting Asmara.
