I feel so sad seeing this Sovjet monument in Addis, knowing all the bad the Derg terror regime did to the people of Ethiopia.

You should see this memorial as it is one of the largest in the city. This memorial is easily reachable by taxi from any part of the city.

This memorials was once a beautiful place to visit, but it has been neglected for quite some time. It is recently undergoing some sort of renovation, so I hope it will gain back some of its glory. The sculpture and art work is quite amazing, and certainly worth a visit

This monument commemorates the Ethiopian and Cuban soldiers killed in the 1977-78 Ethiopian-Somali Ogaden war. Although it reflects the communist/Soviet architecture of the Derg of Mengistu, it is wrongly associated with this regime.

Its a memorial, like many others nice if you wish to take in that sort of thing. For many others it may not be. I enjoy this type of thing but my wife for example thinks its so boring. This one is nice but nothing special about it. I would only go if you have nothing else to do in... More

We visited this location on two separate occasions and the gates were locked. The first time we visited the area directly in front of the memorial were you gain access to the gate had hundreds of young boys playing soccer in front of it and we literally had to dodge balls to get to the gate to find out we... This Tiglachin monument was erected in memory of members of the heroic Ethiopian defense forces, who repulsed with Cuban support the aggressive Somali army. Behind the statue, there is the Black Lion Hospital, a name adopted from that of young Holeta Military Academy
