Our main objective is to deliver quality designs that highlight the rich culture of handcrafts in Ethiopia while empowering Ethiopian craftspeople. In addition to producing on site, we also stock handcrafted items from other artisan groups. One of Salem's core values is committment to giving a fair return to all employees and co-op partners.

Wonderful small artisan village in heart of the city

Ms. Salem was a delightful host. She has cultivated and build a mini-artisan village with basketry, weaving, and jewelry all in one small courtyard. The quality of the woven items and the basketry is excellent as are the designs and colors. The prices are reasonable as well.

An absolute must when shopping in Addis

Salem's was simply a little gem of a shop with beautifully crafted scarfs, blankets, baskets, jewelry, rugs etc etc etc. The space is really nice and cozy as well, and it's amazing to also be able to see the locals work on site, weaving the scarfs and the baskets. Definitely a must ... also great place to get Ethiopian souvenirs and gifts.

Salem’s shop is not only beautiful, quality, and utopian, but all of the products are hand-made made with diligence and attention to detail, many of which are made in-house. Salem herself is incredibly kind and welcoming, and the environment of her shop is one that you will not find elsewhere. I’ve never left a review before but Salem’s shop is exceptional and I can not recommend it enough, for all people.

A visit to Salem’s is a must when in Addis Ababa! The products available for purchase are beautiful and produced by local artist. Make time enjoy Salem’s lovely gardens, experience an authentic Ethiopian coffee ceremony as well as observe artists at work.

Sweet experience in Ethiopia

Walking into Salem’s shop is a breath of fresh air. A sweet courtyard, beautiful flowers, and gracious smiles greet customers. Artists are at work and welcome customers to watch their processes. Their products are beautiful, and my suitcase went home heavier than it arrived in Ethiopia. Their coffee ceremony also produced our favorite coffee of the trip.

Direct from workshop to shop

Nice shop with a variety of items ranging from jewelry to textiles to bags to baskets to carving. Well priced, not super cheap, but not inflated like at the Hilton shops.
