Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The wonderful, intelligent young lady that served as our tour guide was the cream of the crop! She was extremely knowledgeable and did an awesome job keeping our attention and helping us to focus on the most important details! I highly recommend this tour and I'm so grateful we had the opportunity to interact with this amazing young woman. I am so sorry I cannot remember her name but she's an absolute jewel! Thank you for an amazing, enriching experience!

Interesting educational spot that's well maintained. There is a guide who will provide you with a brief history and then allows you to the tour the room and some of W.E.B. DuBois' possessions. They provide educational activities and farmers markets on the grounds as well. Definitely worth the visit if you're in the area. Good for families but maybe not very young kids.

I didn't know much about WEB DuBois before coming here. We went as it was recommended as a place to visit. It was VERY interesting. It was the home he lived in later in his life. There are many interesting photos and memorabilia. The docent gives you a personal tour. The cost was 7 cedi for adults. (Some reviews on here told us it would be 20, but it was 7)

I visited the DuBois Center during my last full day in Accra. It is a bit tricky to find and took my driver a few passes around the Cantonments before we saw the sign from the road. I visited on a Saturday morning around 10:00 and there were maybe a half-dozen other tourists present. One may want to check ahead and see what the regular hours are, I thinked I lucked out as most tour books say it's only open M-F.
After paying a very reasonable admission fee, we were taken on a 45 minute tour of the building and surrounding grounds. This is not a comprehensive overview of Dr. DuBois' life but rather a review of his collaboration with Kwame Nkrumah and his last years in Ghana. You are shown the actual room he died in as well as artifacts from the time period and his very substantial library.
Our visit ended at his gravesite, where the group took turns reading one of his poems ("Ghana Calls") from a lectern. We were all allowed to roam the grounds for a bit before departure; the entire visit lasted about an hour.
My time here was a nice mix of a "learning experience" and a "pilgrimage." I recommend a visit for those with the interest and hopefully for a few of those without as well.

The tour through the W.E.B.Dubois center was totally captivating. At 93, this man was not afraid to have a new start. Although he was only in Ghana for 2 years before he died, the Center really captures the essence of his life. I was amazed to see his library and couldn't help thinking, these may not even be all the books which this person owned in his lifetime. It is unfortunate that he wasn't able to complete his work on the African Encyclopedia. Once again, a knowledgeable tour guide. Dr.DuBois and his wife really adopted Ghana as at their request Ghana became their final resting place although neither was born there. A "must see" for all history buffs.

I have research Dubois and much of his philosophy has found a place in my dissertation. Coming to center was a peaceful reminder on all of his accolades. For the price of 7 Cedis you can have guided tour. What I really loved was sitting down and reading all the wonderful writings. I could easily spend a day there.

At times this place is used for recreation. The Management will charge you for air conditioning which doesn't work. The Gardeners and cleaners will all join your food queue as if they are entitled. These same people will be first to kick you out when your programme ends.

I studied the W.E.B. Dubois in my African-American History course in college so I was pretty excited to go view his center. However the Center is a bit run down, it's disappointing. It does have key articles/items for his life which is interesting to view, and shows how he transitioned to life in Ghana. He is also buried on the grounds. The center could and should be more interactive as well as more reflective of his writings and ideologies.

I enjoyed learning more about WEB Dubois. The center needs some help with funding, but more importantly it was the home of WEB Dubois. It is a must to visit the place knowledge lived.
