While it is a bit difficult to get to because of the traffic, it was the best way to start our adventures in Madagascar. The park is well run, the guides are excellent and the up close looks at the lemurs is excellent. We did the pick up/lunch and tour and it was worth every penny.

Highly recommend this reserve. Easy drive from Tana and once there you walk along comfortable paths with a guide experiencing multiple encounters with varieties of lemur. Easy viewing and great experience.

I wasn’t sure sure about going to this place at first but it ended up being a very good experience. It is indeed a bit pricy but they are doing a good job minding the lemurs. According to them, these are lemurs saved from the pet trade, with the babies ending up being born in captivity. They cannot be released in a wild, hence this park. At the end of the day, it is a great opportunity to see semi wild lemurs up close. I was in Tana for a work trip and did not have time to go deep in the forest. If I was on a month long tourist trip, I would probably skip the park. However if you are short of time, it’s a great experience. The guide was very friendly, knowledgeable and spoke excellent English and French. Food was average. Bring cash Bring cash

The lemurs were quite tame and came really close - something that would be practically impossible with wild animals. I could also watch several of them being fed. The drive from Tana took a bit over an hour in the morning traffic. I spent a bit over an hour in the park: the tour took an hour and I had to wait about 10 minutes before the tour started. I left my hotel at 8:30 AM and got back around noon. The cost was 70,000 ariary for the entrance (cash only) plus a tip for the guide. My driver adviced me to tip 20,000 if the guide is excellent (which he was), 10,000 otherwise. My hotel arranged a return transfer from Tana for 170,000 ariary.

Journey to this park has to be early as traffic jam from town to park is bad. Park opens @9am. Depending on available of guides, most probably will a few small groups into 1. We had 3 small groups as 1 visiting group of 7pax. Park is not big. 7 types of lemurs stays there. Quite easy to spot as guides who where they are. Main attraction to us is its ring tail lemur. Smaller than usual as it is not exactly their living environment but is ok. Spotted 1 chameleon andamy tortoises. After 1h 15min, we ends out lemur walk and took rented taxi to airport and ends our Madagascar trip.

Lemurs' Park (also known locally as Parc de lémuriens à Madagascar) is a small botanical garden and lemur reserve covering 5 ha (12 acres), and is located in Imerintsiatosike, 22 km (14 mi) southwest of Antananarivo. It was founded around 2000 CE by Laurent Amouric and Maxime Allorge. Most of its nine lemur species are free-ranging within the park, which also contains more than 70 of Madagascar's endemic plant species.Most of the park's lemurs were confiscated pets, entrusted to the park by the Ministry of Water and Forests. The lemurs are rehabilitated and bred for reintroduction into the wild. The park also collaborates with Colas Madagascar and TOTAL Madagascar to provide environmental education to local primary school children and to plant native trees as part of a reforestation program. Most of the park's staff come from the neighboring communities.I was the first tourist of the day at 0900 hrs when the park opened.Entrance fee to the park was 70,000 Ariary and at the entrance there is a exhibit of a whale skeleton and a now extinct Madagascar Pygmy Hippopotamus.My guide was Mr Voaharinjaka Jonathan who spoke fluent English and was excellent in explaining various locales of this park during our walk along the forest route.As it was feeding time in the morning i was at the right place at the right time and our first sighting was the Sifaka breed of Lemurs ,absolutely accustomed to humans akin to domestic pets but living in the wild forest and not cages.Only difference between totally wild Lemurs and Lemurs of "Lemur Park" is that while wild Lemur's hunt for their food in the forest these semi tame Lemur's of Lemur Park are fed thrice a day by humans and if released in a natural forest would find it difficult to survive on their own.The visit to this park was worth the time , travel and money as i got a extremely close view of a few species of Lemurs as also a Lemur with its baby. Before visiting any national park in Madagascar it is advisable to first visit "LEMURS PARK' to view lemurs from a close distance rather than by binoculars in the national parks.
